Any ones insurance pay for HRT?
Ok I have done few cycles in the past I went to my DR got full metabolic test and he said every thing was fine I'm 29 but it's a family DR ? Was looking in to a few HRT clinics around here but my pockets are not that deep any why I can get my insurance to pay ? I called my insurance and they said they would pay for test if it's needed and prescribed by a MD with proof . What do I do

clinics will pretty much prescribe to anyone. but you pay for it. Goto an endo.
If people can't tell your on steroids then your doing them wrong

Ya the clinic wanted way to much for me to spend

your insurcance will cover an endo visit. My insurance doesnt cover the script, but does cover all the test and dr appointments

Op your 29 and barring any pathologies you should not jump on TRT. It's a long road to be on, especially at your age. You need to find the problem first. Can you post up BW here so we can take a look? Specifically LH/FSH, Thyroid panel, Total and Free T, E2, SHBG. If you're not sure about the proper BW to get it's in the Finding a Physician Sticky. When it comes to doctors, their title does not matter unless you can find an A4M Certified one. The majority of docs do not know TRT unless specifically trained in it as it's not part of med school. Read that sticky and see if it helps you. Let us know how things go on this thread please.
Vit D, Vit D, Vit D. Start supplementing with it immediately if you're not. 5k to 10k per day. Most everyone is low and the higher your D is the more it will lower your SHBG level which in turn will allow more free T for use. Best bang for the buck vitamin there is.

Working on getting my BW back from the DR I have to go get it when I do I'll post
-
Are you looking to go on TRT so you have access to abuse it, or because you are trying to treat low testosterone ?
Its really not quite clear what you are looking for.
Regardless, my insurance covers my TRT.

First I want to go have my BW looked at by a endo and have him tell me and I can't afford it so I want my insurance to pay !! I don't think my family DR really knows what he is looking at ! So no not to abuse to be treated if needed

My insurance covers test and the AI. It will not cover my HCG . They view it as a fertility drug and will not cover it.

Mike 954, Sounds as if you want it to be low so you can get a script. Believe me you really don't want this. My insurance covers DR and Blood work after I meet the annual deductible of $5800. Meds are out of pocket.

My ins company covers my test . My dr won't prescribe Ai or hcg so I'm on my owe with those ..

I have been with 2 insurance companies since starting HRT, neither would cover an AI and I doubt any of them will. The nice thing is AIs are cheap and easy to come by with 'research chemicals'. The first company covered the Test and HCG (HCG was considered a compound so I paid almost full $ for it). The second company doesn't cover test but covers the HCG as a generic. My out of packet barely changed since Test is cheap.

Pending confirmation on whether or not i'm a TRT candidate, i'll need to find out whether or not my insurance (Horizon BCBS) covers any of the scripts (test/HCG /adex). Not sure how this info helps you, lol.. but since we're thinking along the same lines, I thought i'd mention it.

my insurance covers testosterone only, but they only allow 4 mgs per month and each time i pickup the meds i have to pay $20 copy, so its cheaper to pay out of pocket, only $57 for 10 ml vial.

My insurance will not cover Androgel either. It does cover shots which most find better anyway. Several months of androgel (at the maximum dosage) only raised my total about 60 points.

I think wanting to be on TRT is a bad decision. Avoid it if you don't have symptoms and if your blood work doesn't back up your desire. And don't listen to some salesman that says your levels are on the "low end of normal" that can get you up to "optimum" levels. You will go through a lot of inconvenience and expense for very little benefit. You probably would get more placebo effect than actual benefit if your levels are already normal.
Look at the pain in the *ss that TRT has already become for you: doctors, tests, prohibitive expense, insurance issues. These things will continue to be a pain forever.
I started TRT at 41. The thought of starting at 29 is horrifying.

The only time I think anyone should consider androgel is if its covered by insurance. They charge so incredibly much its sickening.
Testosterone is old and cheap. Androgel is big pharma making constantly new patents just to gouge insurance. The end consumer should NOT be paying hundreds of dollars for thsi gel.

It's all out of pocket here. Kaiser has no clue where to start with this, so one either goes with lousy care, or pay for quality care.

Dr said if insurance will not cover it he will change to injectable my test is at 300 on the blood work

You think the insurance is more likely to cove the injectables due to the cost ?

You have kaiser too?
I almost had to trick my gp into starting me on test. I made up stories about huge ED probs and no libido, and woman threatening to leave me since if i wasn't interested in her, then obviously i'm getting it somewhere else?
then had to armwrestle my doc into halving my dose but twice as often?
my rbc was too high, and they wouldn't do a theaputic blood "draw" (i'm on permenant deferment due to where i lived in the 80's), so i had to go out and have it done elsewhere?
kaiser really is a joke.
