i don't think you meant to post this here, better to post it in Injury and Rehab section. not familiar with this injury so cant help, sorry. what i usually do is search on you tube, you'll be amazed what you can find there. best wishes to your mom.

anyways doesn't sound like plantar faciitis, pretty sure that is when it hurts when you wake up and when your heal hurts like mad or from sitting too long. I wore stretch things for about 6 months, and then it really didn't go away until I started TRT for a while.

I'm actually very serious asking this question: Does mum drink diet coke? The sweetener in Diet coke is aspartame it is known to cause all sorts of medical conditions foot pain being one of them as well as symptoms of MS and others.
Diet coke will make you fat as well, as it binds with toxins in your body and stores them in your fat. a) causing illness b) causing weight gain

Tell her to get a golfball or baseball and step on it and roll back and forth. The tendon in the middle of her foot is extremely tight. This may help massage it. I had the same issue but i also had flat feet and a collapsed arch in one foot. Now i have 2 plates, 8 screws and a cadaver Achilles tendon. I have heard about the aspartame thing too, bad stuff.

Ive had surgery for plantar facitus and it didn't help that much. The best things to do are, stretch the feet with the calf muscles and wear shoes that have good arch support.
Ricci82 gave some good advise for stretching the feet.
