Has anyone used the 1.62% gel.
Doc just prescribed 1.62% Androgel . Has anyone ever used this? How does it work? Side effects?

Did it for 4 months. 2 pumps at first then 4 pumps. Total T went as high as 1500. For me did absolutely nothing. Waste of time-my opinion of course. If u can, go with bi weekly injections with an AI and hcg . Good luck friend....

I was on 4 pumps and it only raised my total T about 60 points. No sides but did not help either. Shots work for me.

My husband claims the gels can cause stability problems. Sounds like they have a better marketing arrangement with the GP's of the world, because it sounds like that is what the average physician likes to push. Even for me, a little cypionate each week works much better than the transdermal creams that a lot of the BHRT doctors like to go with.

Both the 1% and 1.62% worked fine for me. Felt like a teenager at first after have low levels for a number of years. I've experimented (under doctor supervision) with injections and now have the Testopel implants. Gels aren't well liked here....and I think it is fair to say that some guys just don't absorb them very well. You do, however, have to find out what works best for you.

i was on androgel for a few years, with all the commercials and hype i think they want doctors to prescribe this instead of injections. I got tired of the gel and simply asked my dr. to prescribe me injectable. so he prescribed my test cyp. waaaaayy better in my opinion. that gel is a waste of time bro.

Agel worked well for me for about 5 years. Then I stopped absorbing it. Gel's daily application means stable levels and you're less likely to need AI. With 60mg Test. Cyp. injected twice a week (120 total) I need .75mg anastrozole/week to maintain a reasonable E2 level. I didn't need any with gel. Gel also more closely mimics the natural daily T fluctuations if you apply in the morning. I felt more normal with Agel. If it still worked for me I'd be on it.
1.62% is a way to extend the patent- the 1% is going out of patent soon.
My insurance company's limit for 1.62% was 4 squirts vs 8 for 1%. Agel's maker is telling doctors that patients need less T than with 1% because it's "more efficient", which is bunk. If you're maxed out on 1% your doc will need to argue with the insurance co for you to get you enough 1.62%.

I'm hypothyroid and really overweight and my numbers went from 140 to 240 after going to the 1.62% 3 pumps daily. Just didn't seem to be absorbing it.

I think you also need to consider that doctors are very cautious about malpractice claims and would rather most patients not be injecting themselves IM unless absolutely necessary. The gel is a very safe way to administer testosterone so long as it is effective.

Specifically what do you mean? Like they actually receive a check from the makers of AndroGel based on how much they prescribe?
