    Low T?

I've got an appointment with an endocrinologist next month and I'm wondering if he'll put me on TRT or not. Do any of you think I should qualify for TRT? Here are recent BW results. Thanks.

    total testosterone 245 ng/dl range 193-740
    progesterone 0.5 ng/ml range 0.2-1.4
    dhea-sulfate 151 ug/dl range 38-313
    T4, Free 1.2 ng/dl range 0.9-2.1
    TSH 5.17 uIU/ml range 0.27-4.20
    Hemoglobin Alc 5.8%

I have more results and will type those tomorrow if necessary, but not sure if they're relevant to low T. Doc says everything is 'fine'.

How old are you Hawaii? Yes, post up all results with ranges please. Particularly full thyroid panels if you have it. TSH is through the roof and T4 is lower. Possible indicators of hypothyroid which will cause hypogonadism.

Hi Kelkel thanks for answering. I'm 52, 6'1, 195lbs in fairly good shape with about 15% BF. Yes my Dr. did notice the above range TSH, but she wasn't that concerned, she said it's not too out of range. It was the high TSH that got me into the endo's office next month. Hopefully he'll give something for the thyroid. And based on the total test levels you think I'm a candidate for TRT as well? Thank you for your help.

TRT candidate? Excluding thyroid yes. Very possible just an age related decline. Do you have LH & FSH levels? These are key indicators. When it comes to your TSH it's not a "little high." A more modern range for TSH is .3 - 3.0 so put it in perspective. You need a full thyroid panel done including T3, T4, FT3, FT4, RT3, antibodies and anything else you and your doc decide to check. She's probably just doesn't really understand thyroid issues, many don't. Add a sensitive estrogen assay (emphasis on sensitive) Vit D, pregnenolone and dhea-s.
