Thoughts on injecting into my operated on Glute? Had Hip replacement.

Just over a year ago I had my right hip replaced due to osteo-arthritis. I had a new procedure done which leaves me with no limitations at this point which is awesome. The surgery is way more involved than a typical hip replacement and the surgeon had to cut thru my glute to access the hip. I have a deep 8" scar on my right glute.

That said I just started TRT and I started injecting in my glute. I did my left glute for my first injection and was planning on the right glute for the 2nd. My Dr. said injecting in the right side may actually help the connective tissue etc repair itself. Just curious if I should avoid this like the plague as infection could be very serious or if they are any other pros or cons with possibly injecting in this location.

    Thanks in advance.

You had a hip resurfacing. Me too. Stay away from the scar and try to hit a fat spot.

How long ago did you have the resurfacing done? How do you feel now?

June 2010. Had a bad scope before that that left me hobbling badly. Developed a lot of H/O. Rehab was a bitch because of scar tissue from first and second operation. Now I leg press as long as the angle is not to steep. If it is a plated machine I can do the rack if I wanted to. Can also do squat type exercises. My legs are big and veiny again. Do a search for "suface hippy forum". Great website for resurfacing questions. Feel free to ask me anything you like. I should say I don't go heavy anymore. I pick a weight I can get 20 reps with and stick with it until I can only get 8 reps. Also before I do any pressing exercises I prefatigue my legs by pulling a sled forward or backwards, leg ext, and leg curls.

Surface Hippy was one of the best groups to get me thru the entire process. What a great resource for sure. I do Martial Arts and my hip doesn't bother me when doing BJJ and mostly not when doing Muay Thai but I just started HRT last week along with taking an HGH stimulant and now I'm getting some clicking in the hip. I'm thinking it might be because for so long the hip was inflamed and now maybe a combination of the meds I'm taking have lowered the inflamation causing the hip to be a bit looser? I'm not sure how heavy I'll ever go again but will def. be more cautious with regards to range of motion and higher reps as you're doing.

I should mention I do not workout my legs without at least 10 min of pedaling to warm up everything. When you say clicking, is it something you feel or hear?

It is something that I feel. If I stand and bend over a certain way and then stand back up straight it happens as well. My Surgeon said it's normal for up to 2 years and it's just a matter of strengthening the connective tissue but I have notice an increase since I started on this Protocol. Could be coincidence but seems unlikely.
