Axiron user, very tired in the A.M.

Hello all. I was diagnosed with low testosterone about 8 weeks ago. I had been dead tired, zero libido (married to a beautiful woman thank God) and basically every other sign/symptom know to man with Low T.

My PCP gave me a script for Axiron 60 MG daily. My test was still low after 3 weeks so he bumped me to 90 MG daily & I feel MUCH better. I'm lifting & doing cardio like I used to. My only complaint now is I'm very tired when I wake up around 05:00 after a solid 7-8 hours of sleep. Does anyone else experience this same symptom ?

I doubt it's my diet but who knows. I eat 6 meals per day for a total of about 2,200 calories. I'm 6'2", 250 lbs & currently about 25% body fat.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello EverettCD,

Welcome to the forums. I am happy to hear that you are starting to feel better. I too use Axiron. I started at 2 pumps/day and got bumped up to 4 pumps/day. I feel like a new man.

As far as feeling tired when yoou wake up at 5:00am....
Assuming you apply the medication after you wake up..... most of testosterone from the Axiron will be gone by then, see the attached chart.
Fear not because that is very similar to natural testosterone levels throughout the day. (see the second chart)

It could be be normal lethargy at 5:00am needing some coffee. However, it would be difficult to really know without seeing your bloodwork.

Have you ever had your thyroid tested?

Thank you for chiming in Deadlifting Dog. Good to see a fellow Axiron user. Axiron has changed my life, I was totally miserable until my Doc tested me for Low T & gave me a script for Axiron.

After doing a ton of reading here I have called my Doc's office & requested all my labs including my most recent blood draw that was done this Tuesday morning. I will post my lab work once I get it later this week from my Doc's office.

I agree with you about the normal lethargy at 05:00. I am just curious about this since prior to having the low T signs & symptoms I would feel well rested after a solid 7-8 hours of sleep. The only time I used to feel bad in the A.M. was after a long night at work (I'm a fireman by profession), sometimes we don't sleep all night.

Thank you for attaching the two charts, I haven't seen those before & it makes perfect sense to me now. I do apply the Axiron first thing in the morning after I shower. After a couple cups of black coffee, breakfast & applying the Axiron I feel good.

I have had my Thyroid tested. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism when I was about 12 years old. I have taken Synthroid .137 MG's ever since. I have blood work drawn every six months for my Hypothyroid. My Synthroid dosage has not changed in about 10+ years. I'm 33 years old.

Have you had any issues with your E2 while on Axiron? I feel like I am retaining a ton of water weight since starting the Axiron & have asked my Doc to test my E2 since he hasn't prior.

I had always thought natural T levels were highest in the morning? I'll let some of the experts chime in on that.

I am on axiron also, you do lose a lot of the T by morning, I am in the 800 - 1000 range a few hours after applying, just had my levels tested in the morning before applying and was @ 348, you would think it would be a little more of a steady state after 10 months on it.

I am going to ask my Doc about this tomorrow. He always has me come in for my blood draws first thing in the morning prior to applying the Axiron. Could this be giving a "false" low T result?

Not necessarily a false result you are probably pretty high a few hours after applying and steadily decline throughout the day. Keep us posted on what your Doctor says.
