New to Board 43 and looking for some guidance

Hello fellow board members. Greetings from Texas. I stumbled upon this site by accident this week while doing some research on low testosterone . I am 43, 5’10”, 195lbs and about 15-18% bf. I have been feeling run down, lacking motivation, etc. I asked my doctor to check out my test levels at my annual physical a couple of weeks ago. The nurse called and said my testosterone levels are at 190 and the doctor wants you to start Androgel Cream. Anyway, while doing research I came across this site. I don’t think my doctor is a specialist in this area by any stretch of the imagination. Being this could be a lifetime commitment I want to do this right.
The question is what should I do? More tests, fill the prescription, ??? Any and all advice is welcome.

Hello jhatx. First, post up your blood work if you can. Include ranges. This way we can take a look and see if the doc missed anything. Unfortunately many docs just don't understand hormones and treat the result, not the cause. Take a look at the Finding A Doc Sticky at the top of this forum for the BW we need to see. If and when it comes to treatment, it should be your option as to the type. Gels, injections, pellets...

Many factors can cause low T. From hypothyroidism to cortisol, pathologies, etc. It's why we need to see the BW. If you can find the problem, correct it and return to a normal healthy level then great. Also keep in mind it very well could just be an age related decline as well.

    Welcome!

Exactly what the wise one said above; post your BW complete with ranges.

As kel noted, you could have hypothyroidism which has many of the same symptoms of low Testosterone serum levels and it will indeed cause Hypogonadism as well.

Post your BW and we'll have at it!

    And welcome to the community

    Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. I am going to set an appointment with a Dr. / clinic that seems to be a bit more experienced in this area. They will complete a more in depth BW panel that I will post. I happened to come across it on this site!
