    HCG from Rat Urine

I've read that HUCOG and other generic HCG is derived from pregnant rat urine. Any truth to this? I can't seem to find any information on it... and the thought of injecting HCG from rats is a bit concerning.

All input on this is welcomed.

I would contact the individual manufacturer if you are concerned enough.

Personally, never heard of this but I've heard of more bizarre things so I can't say ignore it if it bothers you enough!

This is referenced on several forums...a few times on this board. One person claimed the package insert on his Hucog stated that it is in fact derived from rat urine.

Anyone using Hucog or something similar still have their package insert?

HUCOG is a synthetic form of hcg and it is derived from rat urine. It can actually stay potent many times longer b/c since it's synthetic they somehow stabilized the liquid. Yes, it comes at room temp already reconstituted and it works great.

Thank you for your input. Do you know if the powder form of HUCOG, once reconstituted, will also have a longer shelf life? And if so, do you know what the shelf life might be?

It's been a while since I read about it so don't quote me but the liquid solution I believe is good for several weeks at room temp and for over a year refrigerated. They recommend refrigerating it as soon as received.

I have some that's been refrigerated for several months now and just as potent as day 1.

I could be wrong abou this, but I think the rat thing is a rumor and not based on fact. There are two sources of HCG , human and recombinant (rHCG). I don't belive rats come into the picture at all, and the recombinant HCG is produced by single cell animals, not mamals.

HUCOG HCG has less FSH analog in it, so it acts primarily as LH mimic.

If anyone can post something reputable about rats being involved in the manufacture of any HCG, I would be very grateful. "Reputable" does not include chat rooms. It has to be a manufacturing company's website or some scientific document.

One of the largest manufacturers of HUCOG has this listing:
    http://www.bharatserums.com/hucog.htm

It clearly states "human". So unless you think all pregnant women are rats, this throws doubt on the rat theory.
