High Hemoglobin need advice.

My hemoglobin is 18.1. I know it needs to be under 16. I tried to give blood but they wouldn't take it because of this being too high. What steps do i need to take from here? Call my Dr? Also my buddy is seeing the same Dr i am. His was 19.9 so they told him he would have to go off the shots for a month and give blood. I have an app with same Dr in march. If I give blood this month and next should it get me back in range so I don't have to go off the shots either? How often do you all give blood?

Some people give blood regularly, but my first inclination would be to a) give blood to bring it down for now, and b) lower the dose so you don't go so high or so high so fast.

You're only allowed to give blood like every 50-60 days or so, I think it depends on the place... but I have to think if someone donates too often they are running low on iron stores.
