Gel Shut Me Down....How Long to Clear Out?

I've been shut down for about a week now after being on Axiron/Androgel for over a month. PCP wants me to stop all TRT until she can get me to an functional medicine doc who deals in TRT. PCP did BW today, so that should be interesting. One month of TRT gels sent me from 261 Total T (pre-TRT) to a Total T of 65 with high E2.

My question: how long is this nightmare going to take? I know the next few days will not be pretty. How long does it take someone to get a daily transdermal totally out of their system?:scratch:

If you are HPTA suppressed due to the more than a month use of Axiron/Androgel you will not re-start on your own.

You need a PCT protocol that includes drugs like clomid and HCG.

You should have never stopped using the transdermals in the first place after you started...at least your Doc realizes she doesn't know what she's doing.

Find that new Doc right quick.

Ugh. Thanks, gd. I haven't stopped....yet. She wants me to stop starting tomorrow and come back with a new baseline reading with the new doc.

Tell her your concerns of crashing now that you are HPTA suppressed and you don't want to feel like shit till you find a properly trained Doc...and tell her you know well enough that you won't re-start on your own.

If she doesn't know TRT in men she won't know HPTA re-start protocols.

BTW, now that you HPTA suppressed your new serum levels will be tanked and probably far below where you were when you had some production...God, some of these Docs just kill me.

Plead to stay on your dosage till you find your new Doc and make sure the new Doc understands TRT in men; read the stickies at the top of the forum if you haven't and educate yourself...the educated man is a wise man;)

Couldn't you just take a copy of your original test total of 261 to your new doc and just stay on the gel until a new plan is developed? Could get an AI from the site sponsor if it's going to take very long.

Sure, but what are the odds that I'm going to find a good doctor in short order? Believe me, I've been calling places for days. Unlike more progressive states, Indiana it seems is a TRT desert.

Thanks all. I am so thrilled that this morning I just started cold calling doctors around town asking for specialists in TRT. I heard the same name twice and gave them a call. Walked in due to a cancellation and jackpot! Dr. knew all of the progressive TRT treatments and it was literally like talking to the experts on this forum. She GETS it. She came up with a great game plan, was EXTREMELY interested in investigating the root cause of the low T, rather than just pouring gas on the fire. She ran a lot more blood tests (other than T and E2) and is starting me on a compounding gel for now, but was totally open to shots if this doesn't work. She immediately prescribed an AI (very low dose, I believe). I was so excited, I could barely contain myself. It was truly wonderful to FINALLY speak to someone who was well-versed in this area. WOW!:ccsmilie_ I didn't feel like I needed to "teach the doc" this time.

And just as you said, gd, she said I should never have stopped the TRT treatments after the 1 month of TRT due to suppression.

Yea, unfortunately, and as you know, most Docs are not trained correctly or at all and hence just don't know...but they prescribe anyway much to the detriment of men's health which pisses me off to know end!
