    Wife is pissed off

Ever since I started my TRT program, she says I snore constantly the minute I fall asleep. Does TRT have anything to do with this?

Have you ever had a sleep study done ? You may have sleep apnea.

I have sleep apnea bad & my wife hates the snoring. I need to go have a sleep study done as well, all these years of shift work has really screwed up my sleep pattern.

It may be coincidental, but the snoring started a little after I started TRT

maybe the TRT is helping you sleep more deeply and so you snore?

Ive noticed the same thing. I believe there may be a correlation with AAS. (added weight?)

I have not had any sleep studies done, but i think i'll look into it on my next visit.

try those mouth pieces. Wife will not let to bed without them. Your jaw will be sore for a few days but gets better. Wife says she can definitely can tell the difference. Its about 40 dollars.

i know the breathe right strips work for some people, but i tried them and they did not help my snoring. my guess is it is just coincidence that snoring started about the same time OP started TRT.

There is definitely something to HRT and snoring. My wife says I am much worse with snoring since starting HRT. There is also a huge correlation between thyroid disorders and sleep apnea, and I am sure everyone knows, being hypothyroid can cause hypogonadism.

Wow, many people saying it works. Can we define "it works"? Does it mean you snore more quietly, or are people saying it cures snoring 100%?

Can you describe this "mouth piece" more? Can you also get it at Walmart?

LoL of course not but they do work for some people especially those who are not ceonic snorers or severe. Nothing is a cure all for everyone and what works for one may not work for another so why not start with what is easy, cheap and can be tried tonight?

Maybe ur libido is preventing her from sleeping or waking her up more often, so she's just awake more and noticing the snoring.

Get her on hormone replacement so she can "over libido" you awake and stop the snoring!

and about the mouthpieces..ive seen that work but supposedly not comfortable...from what i saw it was just like a mouthpiece a boxer, football player, etc. uses

Functional improvements I've noticed while on trt
    1) pits stink less even with increased protein intake- I associate this to improved protein metabolism ... And stronger muscles in general
    2) less chronic neck/back pain - even minor muscles / postural muscles getting stronger giving old injuries more muscle support
    3) heart - used to have chronic bronchitis / heavy chest while breathing day / night. Possible cause was cardiac arrhythmia or increased pulmonary hypertension...right now after 5 months trt - no chest tightness or symptoms related to same...throwing out inhalers now .
    4) better digestion and less colitis / intestine pain...

So, if diaphragm and intercostal breathing muscles, and digestive irritation and pressure on diaphragm is less...this alone can improve strength and breathing capacity just with trt...perhaps your breathing effort has increased leading to stronger snoring / inspiration and therefore louder snoring.

Only food for thought... Now if your soft palate / roof of mouth would get stronger ( and tighten up on its own) and not occlude ur throat... Snoring would stop/ decrease!? Mouth exercises? Sing more? Who knows?!

google "Zquiet" or "Puresleep" snoring mouthpieces. Works for me. Idea is your lower jaw is slightly extended past you upper jaw. First few times you will slobber more during the night and wake up in morning with sore jaw for a couple of hours. After a week or two you do not notice it and if you are like me, you will be sleeping better. My wife never lets me fall asleep without it. She loves it. Hope that helps.

I'll give the mouth piece a shot for a few weeks & see if it helps me. That sure beats taking a cpap machine to the station every shift like I was thinking i might need to do. Thanks for the info.

Sleep apnea is generally a symptom of low testosterone .

However, it have been reported that increased levels of exogenous testosterone has worsened the condition...don't trust me?

    Ask my wife LOL!!!

Same here, after starting my TRT, I started snoring like crazy.. What I have noticed, her too, is that by dropping weight, the snoring has subsided.. I have lost 16lbs. in about 3 weeks and the snoring is almost gone UNLESS I crush some alcohol or eat dairy.. Dairy produces more mucous in your system which doesnt help sleep apnea symptoms..

Lose some weight, eat less dairy and you should be G2G..

I also tried those mouthpieces and it does work! HOWEVER, you wake up with a sore jaw every morning... Then you gotta clean it really well, even if you do that every morning, it starts to smell after a while..

I have read about this a bit in the past... Here's a little info from 2007:

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17645445

    CONCLUSION:

Cautionary statements about TRT in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) appear frequently in the TRT literature and guidelines, despite lack of convincing evidence that TRT causes and/or aggravates OSA. Also, there is a lack of consistency in the findings connecting TRT to OSA. It is evident that the link between TRT and OSA is weak, based on methodological issues in many of the studies, and most studies involved small numbers of men. Further studies in this area are needed.

As an aside, breathe right strips work well, but they don't eliminate snoring altogether. They definitely help you breathe though! I've seen athletes wearing them actually on the field as well.

Also heard really good things about CPAP machines. Worth it IMO if insurance pays.

My snoring is definitely related to my overall mass & neck size. When bulking & approaching 275 my neck can get up to 20 inches which brings on horrible snoring. It drives my Fiance crazy & she ends up hitting me 4 or more times during the night. The last 5-6 months I've been down to around 255 and the results are much better I'm told. I also have to sleep with 3 pillows which helps too. Nose strips sometimes have worked, but have been mostly hit & miss for me...
