Female TRT
I'm asking this for my significant other. What is the usual protocol for testosterone replacement in a post menopausal woman?
-
You know... I think it would be great if we could find the equivalent high quality HRT forum for ladies to refer threads like this to.
Unfortunately, most of us just don't know that much on the matter. Of course, we will say play it very safe. A couple weeks ago it seemed like a lady was put on way too much testosterone .
As an aside, I recently heard a patient at the doctors office talking about having to shave her face! Yikes, lol.

Vette's wife can chime in here.
She's been on TRT for some time.
If Vette sees this she will jump in.

The same doc that I'm not going to continue my TRT with, gave my lady a shot of 20mg. Next one is in three weeks. Any feedback on this?

Without getting too deep, as we have virtually zero details about her, I would say your wife just got a shot of ineptness with that doctor. 20mg is too much for a female protocol, and like men, she should be administering at least 1x per week. Her serum level is going to spike heavily in about 3 days, then it's gradual downhill from there. By day 21 and her next shot, she will be not too far from baseline. Full life is 14 days on cypionate , so you can see where it's going with that type of protocol frequency.
If your wife will join up, my wife and the other ladies will discuss things with her. A female's protocol can be quite complex, and there's many variables of hormones associated with having a good protocol, along with deciding if a rhythmic or constant protocol is the best route for her. First step is a qualified physician. You can use the sticky in our forum (at the top), which will have some locating tools within it, and the A4M site would also be a good place http://www.a4m.com/directory.html. Additionally, there's a collaboration of relevant threads for and from the ladies, also in the sticky parlor. If your wife will invest a few hours, she will be light years ahead!

harsh, but it seems like your doctor either doesn't know the half life of testosterone , or simply doesn't care.
Either scenario doesn't bode well for your lady...

OP, my intent isn't to come across brash in anyway, but when I see these things taking place with new patients and physicians, I've just learned it's best not to sugar coat it. In this case, the doctor has made a decision that will reflect on your wife's health. You and her will have to live with the doctor's trial and error process if this doctor isn't spot-on with his/her knowledge. We TRUST these physicians with our lives, and we sure the hell hope they've really have done their homework before committing a patient to any dosage or frequency of Schedule III medication. It's no different with the pilot of an airplane. I don't need to be on a flight with a pilot that presumes we have enough runway to get the bird off the ground. I want a pilot that will know by experience that we are 100% safe and GTG, or we need to stay grounded.

Thank you very much for your concern and comments, but I made BIG mistake, guys. I'm really sorry. My wife was given TEN mg and is to return in three weeks. Does this dose seem in line with correct protocol?
Vette,
Thanks for the advice and for that link my for my wife.Last edited by 2Sox; 02-26-2013 at 08:22 AM.

2sox, even 10mg is a bit on the high side for a female protocol ... 4mg to 6mg might be a better starting point. Regardless, the 3 week frequency protocol will be a disaster for her. Presuming if she took 10mg, then it was administered via subcutaneously, 5 units on the insulin syringe? Also, in the future when things get dialed in, B12 methyl stacks real good with the sub q shots, anywhere from 250iu to 500iu per injection.

Read and study these threads. Lots of great info. And I agree 20 mgs is WAY too high. There is a member here who tried 8 mgs and found to be too high. Remember aggression and body hair and voice.....not side effects many females want.....

Hey Vettester, does 2Sox wife then follow the same injection protocol as the men? Meaning, 4mg Sub Q twice a week like the men? Where is the sticky parlor? I think a lot of women could find the answers they're looking for there.

Yes, women can break their dosages up 2x per week just like the guys, or if it's more convenient, just stick to 1x per week. They will experience the same peaks and troughs we do with testosterone , so it's important that the administration frequency isn't way out there (like 1x every 3 weeks).
Is that Slimmerme I see??

Thanks for the post. My wife was so impressed w the results I've seen in my short 5 weeks that she wanted something for herself. So we contacted the group ive been working with and signed her up.
She just took her blood tests last week and the results aren't in yet. But once they are they will let us know the results and recommended course of action.
I think we will get her to sign up on the forum so she can describe her treatment and results.

^^^^Totally agree with Vette, let's get signed up as a member!
Would like to track her progress.
Have her start a thread and post her blood work and recommended protocol.
