    Blood Work Lab Codes

I'd like to know if some of the experienced members can post the codes for blood tests necessary to begin TRT and those codes for monthly maintenance blood tests - Quest, Lab Corp, etc. It would save us new people so much time. And we wouldn't have to wonder if we were getting the right codes as we were looking it up manually. Maybe a good thing to make into a sticky.

After starting TRT there isn't much sense in spending money testing these since exogenous test will knock them way down:
    83001-gonadotropin FSH
    83002-gonadotropin, luteinizing hor

I don't do monthly bw, but have used privatemedlabs (labcorp) several times. What are you wanting to test?

Here's some test items to help build some lists but someone else will have to provide the codes:
    • Total Testosterone
    • Bioavailable testosterone (aka Free and Loosely Bound)
    • Free Testosterone
    • SHBG
    • DHT (gel users especially pay attention to this)
    • Estradiol (specify “sensitive” assay for males)
    • LH
    • FSH
    • Prolactin
    • Cortisol
    • Thyroid Panel (complete)
    • CBC
    • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
    • Lipid Panel
    • PSA (age dependent)
    • IGF-1, IGFBP-3 (if HGH therapy is being considered)
    • Vitamin D 25 - hydroxy (added 25 - hydroxy per HRT's suggestion)

    FOLLOW-UP LABS:

    • Total Testosterone
    • Bioavailable Testosterone
    • Free Testosterone
    • Estradiol (specify “sensitive” assay for males)
    • LH
    • FSH
    • CBC
    • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
    • Lipid Profile
    • PSA (for those over 40 with family history of prostate CA. >45 all others)
    • IGF-1, IGFBP-3 (if GH therapy has been initiated already)

make sure you specify Vitamin D 25-hydroxy

there are a number of Vitamin D tests and an untrained clinician may simply pick at random.
