Is this the test I need for thyroid?

I think I need to add a thyroid test to my next labs. I usually go with this for my hormones

    http://www.privatemdlabs.com/lab_tes...4&search=#2111

But i know i need more thyroid stuff so i was thinking about adding

    http://www.privatemdlabs.com/lab_tes...h=thyroid#2144

But the 2 together seem like overkill with most of the stuff need overlapping. Is their a better combo i can go with to not over spend and duplicate tests?

your ultimate anti aging labs already does free t4 and direct t4..but no t3. idk if it's worth it to spend another 230 bucks on all the other thyroids. i would just order a free, and total t3 but im not 100 percent sure.

    TSH
    FT4
    FT3
    RT3
    Thyroid Antibodies

This will be enough. If these show problems than you can order more but these will be very telling.

It looks like the best way is to add in the reverse t3 and the thyroid antibodies separate to the ultimate male anti aging panel.

Yes. Many time all the labs will look ok till you get t RT3 and it tells a different story...why it's a critical lab in thyroid testing.

Dr Mariano, who really emphasizes optimal thyroid function regards Total T4 as the most important measure. He likens it to total testosterone . And I agree. Basically, total t4 gives you an idea as to how much thyroid is being produced, much like total testoserone. Of course, there are free hormones as well, but from a diagnostic standpoint, total t4 is his most valuable thyroid tool.

Having said that, if I were going out of pocket I would probably opt for total t4 and free t3... but that first link has free t4 and tsh which is better than nothing. If you have money to burn then sure spend the extra 230 bucks... but I wouldn't personally. Money is too tight to justify.
