For those of you who suffered anxiety before TRT
For those of you who suffered anxiety before TRT, first and foremost how are you feeling now, has the anxiety subsided? My real question is did you feel uncomfortable and have anxiety issues in your own home, and everywhere else you go? I have acquire some new symptoms these last few weeks, faster heart beat( at least I can feel my heart beating if that makes any sense), headaches, body burning, uncomfortable feeling, and my doc said it was just the anxiety getting worse, as you can "have anxiety anywhere, even in your sleep". He might be right saying the anxiety's getting worse as my test levels have fallen even lower these last few weeks. I'm a few days into my protocol of test and hcg , and the doc says to give it a month and see if symptoms subside before we look into anything else. I feel like I took an energy drink or something when I'm just lying in my own bed, and have never experienced this before ( always had social anxiety but nothing like this) in my own house even though my testosterone has always been low, aside from aas. Oh and he took my blood pressure, heart rate, all my vitals and such and said everything was fine.
Taken from wikipedia
"The physical effects of anxiety may include heart palpitations, tachycardia, muscle weakness and tension, fatigue, nausea, chest pain, shortness of breath, headache, stomach aches, or tension headaches. As the body prepares to deal with a threat, blood pressure, heart rate, perspiration, blood flow to the major muscle groups are increased, while immune and digestive functions are inhibited (the fight or flight response). External signs of anxiety may include pallor, sweating, trembling, and pupillary dilation. For someone who suffers anxiety this can lead to a panic attack. Sir Aubrey Lewis even suggests that "anxiety" could be defined as agony, dread, terror, or even apprehension.[13]"
I guess all my symptoms are present there I just feel it's odd to have them to the extent of which I can't even feel comfortable in my own house.Last edited by jomamma007; 04-01-2013 at 11:26 AM.

I had a little anxiety at first. But when i felt the amazing effects of TRT, the anxiety soon disappeared and was replaced with confidence and excitement.
Im sure you will be over your anxiety in no time - you'll be feeling much better very soon. Stay positive.

It doesn't even feel like my anxiety before where I felt there was a reason, it just happens on it's own 24/7, and gets even worse if I eat anything... weird. I thought it was thyroid problem but I'm not sure, wont test it until I go in for 4 week blood check up. Thanks for the reply though

Make sure you are supplementing with 50 mg of both microni*ed Pregnenolone and DHEA.
Dr. Mark Gordon uses both when anxiety exists and gets good results.

Why do you mention thyroid?
There is a connection between thyroid disorders and depression and anxiety, which you may know since you mentioned thyroid. Are you on any thyroid meds? People that are on thyroid meds -- especially ones that have direct T3 in them -- are prone to hitting an anxiety point when their thyroid med dose is too high.

I had anxiety, and it didn't really go away until a few months after B12 treatment. That did the trick.

I've had anxiety two periods in my life. First, many moons ago when endo had me on too high of my thyroid med. The anxiety and panic attacks were ridiculous. Anytime, out of nowhere they would manifest themselves. ugh. Second, when my T level was too high (for me). Dropped the dosage and anxiety left. Good luck.

Not on any thyroid meds. Well I had all the symptoms of low testosterone so I had my levels checked and sure enough they were low, in the 300`s with a SHBG of 60+. When I found out about hyperthyroidism, and how not only the symptoms are similar to hypogonadism but that it can cause it I looked further into it. The low test symptoms have been happening for quite some time but the hyperthyroid symptoms have only presented themselves these last 3 weeks. Mainly burning sensation throughout the body, rapid heart rate, hand tremors and headaches, dizziness, Vision problem. I just had an MRI and ruled out pituitary tumor. My doctor says they are all stemming from my anxiety issue as my thyroid labs were fine even though I barely had much tested
TSH- 1.530 (.450-4.500)
T4,free 1.63(.82-1.77)
Maybe he is right, as I doubt I would get a thyroid problem all of the sudden ,but he says if the symptoms don't subside after a month of hormone therapy then we can do thorough thyroid labs. On 100mg a week test split into two doses and hcg 250iu X3 a week, no AI yet. Also taking 50mg micronized sd preg and dhea daily. I`m only about 5 days in, just wondering if I should test thyroid on my own. Being a 21 year old struggling student, 200 dollars for a thyroid test doesn't seem as appealing as being patient a month and getting my bloods done for a $15 co pay.Last edited by jomamma007; 04-01-2013 at 07:07 PM.

Last blood work, 3/28/13 done at 8am
Testosterone 384 (348-1197)
LH 2.2 (1.7-8.6)
FSH 3.3 (1.5-12.4)
Estradiol not sensitive 18.1(7.6-42.6)
My SHBG was 60.1 on 3/6/13, so i`m assuming my free test is in the tank as well.Last edited by jomamma007; 04-01-2013 at 07:13 PM.

Jomamma - I know exactly how you are feeling. Before I got on TRT I started getting panic attacks daily. I couldn't leave the house, couldn't be left alone, couldn't do anything I used to do. I had to have someone drive me to my doc appointments and constantly needed someone with me. I then found out I had low test due to a Pituitary tumor and got started on TRT.
I've been on TRT pretty much for a year now (switched docs and she took me off for 3 months, but that's another story). Once i found my ideal dosage it was all downhill from there. The anxiety has slowly been going away. I'm pretty much living my old life again and it feels awesome.
Just stick with the TRT (from a doctor that knows what they're doing) and I think you'll be just fine. I also found meditation and positive thinking to be very beneficial. I also had to realize it was all in my head and I wasn't going to die if I had an attack.
I'm getting ready to start preg and dhea so I'll let you know how that does.
Best of luck

Pre-TRT I had bad anxiety for what appeared as no reason at all. Before my test levels began to drop a few years ago I had never experienced anxiety. In my profession as a fireman anxiety will get you killed & it almost did a couple times prior to seeking help from my Dr.
About 3-4 months after starting TRT the anxiety has left the building. Now that I'm on a new protocol with Fortesta & HCG I am back to my old confident, aggressive (in a good way), disciplined & decisive self. Give the TRT time to work, once it does you'll be a new man.

Also, I didn't want to start messing with Benzos and I found that 2g of sub-lingual L-Glycine worked pretty well when I was feeling anxious.

Thanks for the responses guys, takes some ease off. I`m starting out with hcg and 50mg micronized sd preg and dhea alongside the testosterone so I'm hoping to get some decent results initially.

The anxiety he means is different than worrying about trying hrt. I had crippling anxiety before i started hrt. I got off lexapro after it destroyed my test and made me gain boatload of weight
