After dealing with Doctors and so called specialist the last few weeks. MD after the name holds very little weight with me. There are a lot of members on this site that have way more knowledge on the subject then a lot of MD out there. There are very few guy out there that have been doing it as long as he has so its worth it to me.
AMEN to that statement!!!!! I have some stories about these "MD's" that would just blow your mind. Many dont even want to know the right way to do it because it requires CHANGE and some of these doctors are just flat out idiots with PHD's.
BTW, I asked Nelson if he had advertising availability. If any of you know him, I would appreciate a nudge :)

The interesting thing about this medicine is though its not been researched to the point of fully understanding all aspects, it really is NOT a lot to know. Its really fairly simple. I think that many people on this forum know as much or close to it. Hands on experience is really key to being good at anything and we will continue to improve and educate others from those experiences.
My question is WHY??? Why has TRT not been researched through and through. Obviously it's a gold mine but I just can't comprehend why there is a lack of knowledge on the subject. Every PHD should be required to READ THE STICKIES before prescribing any form of testosterone!!! Lol

Medicine is an odd, insular field. I studied molecular biology at uni, and for some electives they let me take classes in the medical school because I was interested in neurobiology and immunology. I was very surprised at how the med school classes were different than the other science classes. In the med school classes there were no points for original thinking or reasoning - it was basically read a text and be able to spit any part back at the prof when asked. Memorise the text - that was what we were doing. In the rest of science reasoning and new ideas are very exciting and you tend to be positively reinforced for this.Quote:

My dad still sees him, and i had to tell my dad to request total t and free t otherwise the doc doesnt do it lol. My dad told me the other day that the doc told him that one of his numbers were low. i suspect that both of his numbers were low, but that only tt was out of range..and prob by a lot too. This same doc also accidentally put my dad in as a female many years ago lol...and didnt notice that my dad's t was too high based on that change in gender.

I imagine there is a lot of pressure as a physician to not do anything that would cause one to be labelled one of those crazy docs who does things for which there is no evidence. It's all really unfortunate for patients now who can't get the help they need, so they go it alone, when they would be better off with help.
I started out with a doc who was willing to supervise my trying things provided I could make a good argument for them, and that was invaluable, but even these docs are few and far between.
Hey guys just want to give a update. Its been about 2 months sense consult 12 weeks total!
I think physicians are overloaded as well - fewer of them (good ones anyway) and everything is done by assembly line. Get patients in and out the door as quickly as possible. I know that doesn't necessarily excuse the knowledge hole - they picked the job. Endos mainly specialize in diabetes now and the three urologists I have seen all had folks in their 70s or older in the waiting rooms.
