    Arimidex causing arthritis? Help!

Being taking trt for 2 years now all was going well until recently. Was taking 175mg of test e with 1mg of arimidex weekly for 4 months. I then had a slap repair done on right shoulder. Now my left shoulder has also got similar symptoms. My elbows ankles neck knees and also my thoracic spine cracks multiple times per day. I reduced trt dose to 50mg of t. Per week with no arimidex. Reading up on arimidex many papers state it's negative effects on bone and joints. Therefore I do not wish to take it anymore. My question is, if the arimidex is to blame for the slap tears in my shoulders and the cracking of my joints, if I stop taking it will the cartilage grow healthy again or is this degradation permanent?

Have you checked your E2 lately? Hows your libido? Really curious if your E just slowly dropped to a lower level and thus your symptoms.

    Management of aromatase inhibitor–induced arthralgia

Curious about your CRP level as well (C-Reactive Protein) as it's an inflamation marker.

Thanks kelkel.I have read the paper on arthralgia. My symptoms are very similar. However the paper concludes with how to treat the on going condition while still taking the Arimidex . I plan on discontinuing use. I am too young to be diagnosed with hypogonadism and arthritis I dont want to risk that! My question is therefore, IF i discontinue the AI, will my joints go back to normal after a period of time or are they permanently damaged now? Very VERY scared!
I have not had my E2 checked for 6 months due to my doctor living on other side of the country as well as he does not test for sensitive assay E2. I will try and find a doctor who will test for sensitive E2.

I have just read that no structural damage to articular surfaces, ligaments, or other joint structures has been documented with ai-induced arthralgia (unlike the case with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis).

So does anyone have confirmation that if the ai is causing all my joints to crack, will stopping the ai reverse this process???

Your E2 is low and that is causing your joint pain. Talk to your doctor about cutting back on the AI and I imagine the issue will resolve itself.

Also, I understand that you're scared but your reaction (discontinuing your AI) is very drastic. Honestly, you could be getting some of the anxiety side effects of low E2. Don't do anything over the top, the chances of someone your age developing arthritis or osteoporosis are slim to none. So, again, talk up the doc, cut back on the Arimidex and you'll be fine.

E2 is too low, I dropped mine down to 3 and could not even walk down steps or squat without huge pain, @ 20 I am good, also I don't take a AI anymore because I lowered my test. AI's suck.

Have lowered T dose to 100mg per week with no AI. My joints are still very stiff and crack. If I did tank my E2, how long does it take to recover. Almost immediately after taking 1mg of anastrozole, per week, I have had 2 SLAP repairs and a lateral meniscus tear. All joints still pop and crack. How would I get tested for joint disease just to make sure? I am 22 so the doc may raise an eyebrow

Why are you taking test at age 21? Have you been diagnosed with low T?

Yes I have regretfully. Had about 20 blood tests over 4 months. All under 6nmol/l. Have been on trt since Feb 2012. Felt like shit all the time. Not a lot of support in Aus. If i knew what i know now I wouldnt have gone on it. Have tried coming off which was worse than before.

Get your E2 pulled, until then your going to be guessing at what the issue is.
