Need some advice/suggestions. Low T 24 Years Old and Insurance denied androgel
Hi guys,
Forgive me if I'm breaking any rules by posting this, I've been a member on this site for years, but have been inactive for about 4. Anyhow, I'm a 24 year old guy and I have been experiencing problems with ED,fatigue, low muscle mass, and a complete lack of sex drive. I havent had insurance for years. I finally got myself insurance and went to the doctor about it and asked them to specifically test my levels. Well it came back that my LH was through the roof, pituitary was normal, but my testosterone was 250. I was a little upset, but relieved when the doctor handed me a prescription for Androgel . I went immediately to the pharmacy to have it filled and they told me it required prior authorization from my insurance company. After waiting for 5 days they finally responded by telling me I was denied. I called my Doctor and asked him to file an appeal and he did. Again they denied my appeal stating that my levels were not low enough to warrant treatment. I decided to just go and find out how much the medication was without insurance. Turns out it was 450 dollars for one months worth of treatment. I was floored and I am stuck right now without any options. When I asked the Doctor about another treatment (such as Test Cyp injections) he said he didnt feel comfortable prescribing me them and sent me on my way. I'm on the verge of losing the love of my life right now over this and I'm at a loss as to what my alternatives are. I might mention that I have been eating healthy, no carbs, low cholesterol, dropped about 50 pounds and have been exercising daily and yet still my levels remain anywhere from 200-270. After discussing the causes with my doctor, he never actually gave me a cause, only stated that due to the high levels of LH in my blood, I am suffering from Primary Hypogonadism at age 24. I guess I'm posting here because I feel like I am at a loss. I don't know of any other options, but could sure use some suggestions. Thanks so much guys.

Dear God!
Elevated LH and low Testosterone serum levels would lead a good Physician to further diagnose the cause of the Primary Hypogonadism.
An otherwise healthy 24 year old should never need to be on supplemental Testosterone .
You need to see a specialist and find out why your Testicles are not functioning. There are a host of clinical reasons for that ranging from Cancer to idiopathic Testicular varicoceles.
You need to find a specialist as soon as you can.
For your Doctor not having referred you to a specialist for further testing is just unbelievable to me.
Get help.

Rather than just jump on testosterone , I would be more interested in finding out what is going on!
This doesn't seem like the normal case of simply suboptimal hypogonadism. You owe it to yourself and the "love of your life" to actually investigate what is going on, even if it is benign.
That starts with finding an expert in treating male hormones.
