Not so sure where to go from here with my GP, endo says im ok but i dont feel ok
Hi guys,
ive been a long time reader of this forum and it has educated me from being a complete noob to having somewhat of a good idea about my body and what is going on, for that thank you guys!
Ok my story in as short of a post as i can make it,
30 years old, fit, healthy, no medical history of anything relating to trauma or operations to do with the reproductive system and brain. Have been suffering from the symptoms of low test for going on 2-3 years now but only decided to act on it in the past 12 months as i really had no idea what it could have been up until then, had the typical alpha male attitude of "im a bloke and in my twenties i cant possibly have low test" but in reality something wasnt right.
Went to my GP and told him about my symptoms and requested bloods to be done which he did. First test he did was just normal bloods for general stuff as well as free test, everything came back within range but free test came back at 11.5 ( 10-35 range ). Next visit with the GP and he was concerned but wanted another blood test this time with a few more things checked.
Second test came back with free test at 3.1 ( 10-35 range ), LH at 1.0 ( 1-5 range ) FSH at 1.5 ( 1-6 range ) total test at 84 ( 250-1100 range ) and SBHG at 48 which is right on the upper limit. Everything else was well normal including prolactin, cortisol and oestrogen, thyroid panel was all fine as well. This test understandably made him want to run another set of bloods testing for the same things, so we did and the results were nearly identical ( taken 1 month after the last test ) with the only real change being free test at 5.5 ( 10-35 range ). Both tests had a pathology diagnosis of secondary hypogonadism, which my GP agreed with.
Doctor has since referred me to an endo which i went and seen a month ago, he requested an MRI on the pituitary, a semen analysis and another round of bloods. Went back and seen the endo last week and the MRI was clear and fine, the semen analysis was good despite the low volume and difficulty required for me to produce it, and free test was 12.5 ( 10-35 range ) LH, FSH, prolactin etc. all the same as before nothing to report that had changed.
Now the problem, the endo thinks im completely fine and told me he will not treat me and i dont need it and that it HAS to be in my head ( psychological ) or stress related. Nothing has changed and all the symptoms are still with me, i have to go and see my GP again for the first visit since i have been seeing the endo and im not sure what will happen.
I honestly know that it is a lot more than stress related, i have almost zero stresses in my life, 4 blood tests have confirmed this there is something going on. I eat clean, lift 4x a week, get lots of sleep and take care of myself. Have never done any AAS in my life and dont drink, smoke or take any illegal substances of any kind.
Should i request a second opinion from another endo? Im not to sure what my GP will do but i really dont want to go to him only for him to say that im fine and leave it at that, ive been through so many tests now i dont want to start all over again with another doctor. The endo didnt give 2 shits how i actually felt all he was concerned about was the numbers and the MRI.
Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated and apologies for the long post, just wanted to make sure i covered everything.Last edited by NJA82; 05-05-2013 at 10:36 PM.
