    Anxiety and trt

    Thanks to anyone who responds.

My first test shot (25mg) subq was this past Saturday and again yesterday.

Today my blood sugar has been low (68) and weakness is my legs and higher than normal anxiety. Is this just my nervousness (as anxiety is the one thing I hope is alleviated from trt) or is it my weak adrenals causing these problems?

I feel like I have electricity running through my veins. I cant sit still without my leg twitching back and forth. These are all usual symptoms of my anxiety but its overcharged today.

It could be from no rest as well as my wife is getting ready to deliver our third son very soon.

Sorry for the sporadic thoughts and lack of unison in my communication but I'm "amped" right now as I just had my 3rd panic attack today.

Surely E2 hasn't risen this fast OR HAS IT?

I get blood work this Friday so we shall see.

Thanks again for any and all answers that come my way!

Of course thats what im here for. Sorry I cant be much more help on this issue. I wouldnt say there is a direct correlation with TRT and anxiety but there possibly could be an indirect one. if you already have anxiety it could exacerbate the condition. But just like patient with High BP. Best to manage anxiety first before starting TRT.

    Congrats on the baby.
The two times in my life that I experienced anxiety and sudden panic attacks(scary as hell, I know) were when my thyroid was out of whack and my T level was way too high(for me). Both were easily fixed.

I understand and I have taken steps to begin CBT but deep down I honestly think a test level of 200 and hardly any free T certainly isnt helping and truthfully panic attacks started when I started everyone's favorite hairloss drug...propecia.

    Time will tell.

Thanks for the response and the congratulations.
Out of curiosity what did your thyroid levels look like when your attacks happened.

In your opinion would adrenal fatigue present itself with high levels of anxiety.

I can only answe the first question
The only thyroid level I remember is my tsh. It was years of fluctuation between the low 20s down to 1. I'd be hypo one month, then hyper the next. Finally had radiation iodine to get rid of it. Panic attacks happened at each extreme. I'd be sitting on a ride and just lose it. I kept it to myself, but I would start sweating, racing heart, and felt completely trapped, convinced I was going to die of a heart attack. Horrible time in my life. Things were fine once I got rid of my thyroid. Good luck and keep us posted.

Have you seen a psychiatrist to help deal with the anxiety (or perhaps at least a therapist)? It might help.

Yes, I have on average 3 to 4 panic attacks a day and they are crippling as you very well know. Not to mention the other episodes of low blood sugar that causes an adrenaline dump as well.

I'm realizing wellness is not just a one trick poney. Meaning a systematic approach is best ie not just correcting testosterone .

My dhea is tanked as well as my progesterone so I'm seeing adrenal issues beginning to surface that will need attention as well.

Im getting tired of fighting this day in and day (6 years now). Only in the last year have my doctors landed on endocrine issues. I've been tested from top to bottom in an effort to diagnose my issues.

This forum and the notion I'm not alone helps me tremendously. So thanks a million.

Zen unfortunately my degree is in psychology so the "tricks" are somewhat mute to me. I know what route the therapist takes well before they do.

Not that I don't believe in my field of study, I just think it's truly a hormonal issue.

Thank you so much for your reply and the time you gave to a complete stranger.

I was a psych major, too... great minds think alike, no?

I definitely get obsessive and anxious when my T is low, but TRT has slowly (over the past year since I started) helped to smooth that out. I went to a therapist for about a month just after starting TRT, and it helped somewhat. I agree that hormones play a big part. Your T dose is small, so I would highly doubt E2 is the issue here. I would guess it is still low T.

How about that another psych major in the room!

Yes, I do in fact know I have OCD and that's a great gift when I'm obsessing over a project at work but not so great when I'm constantly OBSESSING about whats wrong with me.

As with most things, change takes time and I for one am soooo impatient.

When I say thanks for the responses, I really mean it.

    Thanks!

Guys I feel absolutely horrible 8 hours after my test c shot.

I'm so sleepy and very anxious, having trouble breathing and sweating.

Has anyone else experienced this? It's horrible and my nerves have me shaking uncontrollably.

Sleep has been inadequate since starting as well.

    Anyone?

Those are all signs of anxiety... But did you self inject? Did you aspirate ? I'm wondering if maybe you hit a vein? Any blood after you pulled out the pin?

8 hours after tho.. It mainly just sounds like anxiety. Probably all those movies and commercials that warned you to stay away from steroids and put a negative light on them are flashing through your head, just try and remember this is something medical, it's a condition that's being treated.

Try going for a walk maybe or do a little lifting? I'm also wondering if it could be e2 levels being elevated but its too early for that...

I'll go back through your thread and look for specific labs. I'm looking for a complete thyroid with antibodies, cortisol and ACTH (feedback loop), DHEA, progesterone, and Pregnenolone. How are your kidneys, liver, etc.?

Yeah, I didn't find anything on labs to comment on. If you have the battery of labs (CBCs, lipids, metabolic, hormonal ..) Kel's sticky with finding a new physician will give you a good idea with what we need.

As far as kidneys go,, I'm told I always am dehydrated...see bun/creatine levels below. I don't see how as I drink almost a gallon of water a day. I've heard aldosterone contributes in regulating ones water tables.

    Progesterone is almost nil...see results.

    DHEA S is low...see results.

No one has ever commented on my liver but it's been on my radar as I'm always suffering some sort of hypoglycemia episodes.

It's all so much to grasp at first.

My anxiety, which I've lived with for 16 years, completely disappeared when my hormones were properly balanced. My test level at the age of 44 was 285 last year. I'm now in the low 800's with a good E2 and feel incredible. Zero anxiety for a year now!

I sure hope that's my case.

Test levels have hovered at 220 while estrogen is around 33.

I sincerely hope trt gives me my normal life back.

Thank you for sharing your story and giving me hope to endure.

test-one sorry to hear about your anxiety...I also have had bouts of anxiety on and off all my life.. so i feel your pain brother!

Anyway i will tell u i have felt better since getting all my hormones in check.I still get anxiety but not nearly as bad for sure.

Here are some things that set off my anxiety.
If my test levels are to high or really low.
Same thing with e2 if they are to high or low.

If you start taking DHEA start low!! And you really need to start with a lower dose if your dhea is tanked. If you start blasting it into your system it will bring on anxiety big time.I had this happen to me not fun times...

Also a few months back i started on pregnenolone and this seemed to help some.

I think once your body gets regulated from having extra test in your system you will feel much better. best of luck to you!

    Thanks for the reply.

I had one of the biggest panic of my life today and I've been extremely weak all day.

Blood sugars and temperature have been constant though.

If I'm totally honest, I feel terrible. Something akin to the flu.

    Again, thanks for the response!

Rest is always good. Breaking up your meals so that you are eating every few hours helps with keeping your blood sugar levels constant. Nothing wrong with taking a prescribed medication to take the edge off.

I think most of us have been edgy when starting TRT because we want to feel better so bad. It takes time. Which is hard to swallow if you've been feeling like junk for a while. Best thing you can do is to eat right, sleep, and get Blood Work done because lab results don't lie.

    Good Luck!!

    Thanks Jwh.

Thats my meal strategy, 6-8 small meals a day.

It's intriguing that my sugars have been running lower since starting trt.

Fir instance, this morning I woke up with a feeling that some one standing on my chest. So I reach for my glucose meter and tested...it was 67. So I also reach for my blood pressure machine to test that upon waking. 165/95 is what it read and it's never that high. 112/68 is my average.

The last time my no was that high and glucose that low was the days following my ACTH stim test. I was out of sorts a week following that ordeal.

It really makes me think my adrenals are fatigued and as they say, trt will sometimes cause the other endocrine systems to stand up and say, it's me that needs the most attention.

Well I think my adrenals are asking for attention.

I will follo up with more blood work and my Dr next week.

    Thanks for the response!

    Update...

Three days after my test shot and I can sleep on command. I'm so fatigued and sleepy.

I feel just like the stage right before one falls asleep...body is warm and breathing is deeper. It's honestly scary.

I follow up with my Dr tomorrow.

    Has anyone experienced anything similar.

Holding my phone to type this requires extreme concentration or it will slip from my hands.

    Very, very awkward.

    Thanks.

Are you seeing a doctor? This does not sound like TRT side effects (in fact quite the opposite). It sounds serious.

    Update....

No news yesterday as the Dr's office was closed but I did speak with him and he said to cease all shots (well duh) and we will consult this Thursday.

I felt better today six days removed from my last injection. The weird funk has subsided and normal strength is returning. I'm also not laboring to breathe as much (forgot to mention that). I still have anxiety but I can st least hold my head up and not crash on command.

Blood will be drawn this Thursday but I'm afraid my levels will have normalized by then and thereby not letting me know just what was happening.

I shall post my results when I receive them.

    Thanks guys.

Guys, can you all look over my results and see if I'm missing something?

I have my trt goggles on and may be missing things that you vets will spot instantly.
