ID:	139196Part of the issue as to why our levels of testosterone with each generation are lower and lower. It is reported that we have 1/3 the levels our grandfathers do. Environmental estrogens are the big issue. Estrogen drives our testosterone levels down. There are incredible high levels of estrogens in our environment mainly caused by BPA's in our plastics. The feminization of the american man.

Younger and younger men are being treated more and more every day. It is not uncommon to see testosterone levels plateau and start declining in men around the age of 30. Some men are even being diagnosed as early as 25. One of the largest recent studies found strong evidence of a decline of more than 1.3% per year in men’s blood testosterone levels during the last two decades. We are facing an epidemic now with men having much lower testosterone levels then our fathers and grandfathers had. Low testosterone was almost non-existent before the 1980s.

Though highly unusual 20-30 yrs ago, it is now becoming almost common to see men in their 30’s with testosterone levels equivalent to that of 60 year old men. Recent studies have found environmental impacts on testosterone levels. For example, testosterone levels were lower in US Air Force veterans exposed to dioxins while spraying Agent Orange during the Vietnam War, as well as men exposed at work to phthalates (endocrine destructing chemicals commonly used to make plastics). The graph above shows testosterone levels are declining at an accelerated rate in recent years due to obesity, medications such as statins, opioids and SSRI's, pollutants (petrochemical), food additives that cause silent inflammation and free radicals destroying organ tissue accelerating ageing.

Mike your full of good news!

Reality can stink at times. Funny when you think about it. Life expectancy is up at the same time T levels are sinking. Thank god for Testosterone ! I'd drink to that but it may lower my T level!

Great info Mike. My doc speculated something very similar.

My doc also speculated that it could be a virus that interferes with the HPTA process that is yet undiscovered. Regardless, this is definitely something that seems to be more and more common. I'm 37 and thought I was a freak of nature as I work out at least 5 times a week and have the fitness/life level of a 23 year old *except* I've got low T. However, I'm finding more and more of my friends are in the same boat (well, some may be out of shape, but they do have low T). In fact, it seems that most guys I talk to now are getting on TRT.

It makes you think... WHERE is the bottom at?!! It will be interesting to see what this looks like in another 10 years. From the looks of it and by looking at how much more interest this topic is getting from the general public and Doctors... It seems that there will be a LOT more that develops around this medicine.

Exactly BC. Especially as more current and future politicians age and become interested / involved in HRT is will open the door to better funding for studies and advances in treatment....

Great post! I use glass at home for all the food storage, etc. thinking about my little boy's future and avoid plastics as much as possible for exactly this reason.

Yesterday, hollywood pin ups were the likes of Marlon Brando, James Dean, Frank Sinatra, Steve McQueen.

Who've we got today? Justin Bieber, Shia Le Beauf, just a bunch of pretty boys....I mean even those names sound effeminate. But they are supposedly what young males are to aspire to be, today?

    Great info.
Like kel pointed out as well. How ironic life expectancy is up, however t levels are down. So we can live longer but our quality of life without proper treatment may be substantially lower.
Thank goodness trt awareness (largely due to places like this) is up ...

It's a decision of love life or suffer life... not a hard call when I made it. Having low T sucks, but hey, it is what it is. I want the next 60 years to be happy, so what if I have to manage hormones to get there.

Are these effects reversible? As in if one was to try and completely remove all BPA plastics from ones diet and lifestyle would you be able to go back to as low of a toxicity in your system as possible? For most people these BPA`s have been factors in their lives for its entirety, just interested to know if there is a permanent effect on the body if exposed for such a long time and so consistently.

Thanks Mike. Eye opening information. I'll bet many on this forum have stopped drinking from plastic containers years ago. Did you know they found hermaphroditic frogs downstream from plants that manufacture plastics among other things.

Time to buy a heavy duty home filtration system:

Woman are to blame as well. Majority of products in a normal home are loaded with woman products that destroy a mans test. Most woman wouldn't complain or even care about this epidemic. The woman on this board are awesome and not your average females. Didn't wanna sound tooooo anti- female.

Not a wise thing to say - nor is it at all accurate or true. This has nothing to do with women at all. Women don't want to do harm to men any more than men want to do harm to women. What IS doing doing us harm is the unbridled greed of corporations who want their profits at any cost - even at the expense of our health. Safe products would cost more to research and manufacture. It's the same old story.

ehh i sound unwise and you sound like a paranoid anti corporation nut. Go figure. wisdom comes from learning in life correct? So if most my experiences with woman not giving a damn about men problems, doctors and regular woman, then i would say my statement is wise. i also stated not every woman. woman members on this board care. I would also say a majority on this board gravitate towards alpha male, and within there lies this epidemic. Im not sharing a bathroom with a corporation, im sharing it with a woman. It is a known fact most woman house hold products have ingredients, being natural or chemical wise, that can harm a male. Lavender was in every godamn product of girlfriends. and i would use here shampoo and sometimes had neutral body wash that had that stuff in it. my parents bathroom is even worse. I also didnt state that woman harm men. majority don't know. There are also a boat load of woman who hate men and everything about them and see them as a necessary evil. I been to 6 female doctors and all were terrible. once they used the term juice-head or estrogen doesn't do anything to a male i left and blacklisted them.

I also do not buy the safer product angle. All these problems are not taken serious in this country because testosterone is laughed at in the united states. Y you can bet your bottom dollar if caused a woman problem it would bee looked into thoroughly. We will continue to care even less when the feminization keeps getting stronger and stronger.

Since no one has asked, I don't remember my father or grandfather talk about low T and the TV commercials started in the last 10 years or so. I'm not aware of any widespread testosterone testing in say the 1950's or so. Anybody???

I believe injectable test has been around since the nineteen thirties.

Great post. I think it has to do with our whole environment now. From the food we eat and the way it's grown to plastics like you mentioned. hate to see where men will be in 25 years..

Huge reasons here why you should be proactive with your health and educate yourself to optimaize hormones. THIS WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE and keep you out of the hospital in your golden years. It makes total sense why our testosterone levels are much lower with each generation. xenoestrogens are directly correlated to decreased sperm counts, and prostate and testicular cancers. Other health problems such as thyroid disorders, diabetes, and behavioral abnormalities in children, may also be linked to xenoestrogens interfering with the estrogens naturally produced by the body.

Not discounting environmental factors at all, but I think a lot of it is cultural. Studies have shown that doing manly/dangerous activities raises T levels. It stands to reason that avoiding manly activities over time could lower them. Many activities considered dangerous are either highly regulated (made safe) or outlawed all together. I can't drive around the block without a seat belt without risking a $100 fine.

    imho

Do you have any links to these studies? I have never heard of this before. I have been in a profession that at times can be dangerous for more than a decade yet I am on TRT.

I am not doubting you or starting an argument in any way. I am curious to see some of this info since it's new to me.

IMO, your post above can only be taken as opinion until these "studies" are referenced. I'd love to see these studies. How are "manly activities" defined? Who defines them? Then how do you set up controlled experiments? I wonder...... Shall we take the T levels of the men in the American Ballet Theatre and compare them to a troupe of male construction workers?
