    Can I specify what I want in a blood work up?

    I am using the post from Kelkel on what I want in an initial blood test but should I expect to be dinged more money for deviating away from the "standard" work ups they offer?

    blood work
    body fat
    research=safety and success

    thanks

    you can request what you want, but it all depends on how much of a prick the dr is. my GP wouldnt even order me a cholesterol or total testosterone lab.....my urologist ordered me a lot more. I have a feeling im going to be arguing with him in the future though because he said he doesnt always test estradiol(but agreeed to do it on my next one)

    doctors have some flexibility, but beyond that, they may ask why you want that particular test.

    if unable to resolve with your doc, there is always

    private md labs dot com

    are you paying out of pocket? flat fee service? or do you have insurance?

    the answer would totally dictate our response.

    some things like spectracell are not covered 99% of the time, but otherwise, it would depend on insurance or the service you use.

    if you are paying out of pocket then I believe you can order whatever you want unless you live in select states like NY (could be wrong on this).

    if you want insurance to reimburse you then you would definitely need it all coded correctly and ordered by your doc.

    good luck to you!
