there's no way to know how much you are actually getting from a dose, but you can figure how much you are applying based on the concentration...
to find out if you're on the right dose it's simply a matter on bloodwork and symptoms.
I've done a lil research on my question and "they" say we absorb 30%-60%. U guys think that much is possible???
Does this stuff actually work and is this a doctor prescribed thing?Originally Posted by Tnatious
HRT Student...
With all do respect what u said sounds like they have no idea how much they r giving me...there has to be some "ballpark figure" as to how much test I'm actually getting/absorbing.
You can use 100%'s calculations for a "ballpark".
I think hrtstudent was saying that there's no way to know for sure how much you will absorb or "get" so rely on the BW for adjustments instead of trying to figure out how much of what's applied is absorbed.
So u r on the cream as well? And I understand where he was coming from...no worries. I'm just thankful he took time out of his day to respond. Please don't think I'm not grateful
No. Didn't think that at all. Actually, you are correct that many docs don't know much about trt-just what the sales reps tell them.
I'm on a gel-75 mg of Testim + 100iu hcg/day. I'm 51 and
my t level hovers in the low 800s
You will find that most of us are on injections and the unreliable absorption of the creams is one of the reasons why. I have a family member on the cream and he loves it so I know it works.
It will take you some time and blood work but you should be able to get it worked out.
Never did like a delivery system that u have to "pump" or "click" as u say. Such waste. Try to go with injections if u can. But if gel, I liked Testim. Hope your doc isn't "promoting" the latest thing pushed by pharmacy reps.
Good luck.
Yea this clinic goes through one supplier outta Palm Harbor Florida named "APS Pharmacies". My Testosterone, HCG and Arimidex are all from the same compounding pharmacy.
Anyone heard of this place???
Yeah, I'm familiar with them. They have just about everything for HRT.Originally Posted by Tnatious
As mentioned, you should absorb approx. 10% with the creams/gels. Keep in mind that 100mg per week of cypionate will only yield around 70mg of actual medication once all is said and done with the ester and metabolism thereof. So, for the most part, 0.5 per day will be close to injecting 100mg/wk.
With that said, I'd suggest you look at their cypionate or Enanthate for future scripts. I found the topical testosterone to be unstable when I first got on HRT, but maybe it will be your cup of tea.
Yep ^^^^ i get my hcg from them
as a reference point im on hrt therapy getting 190mg q10 days (injected) ... 42 yo 190lbs 11% bf ..test is about 330 (only been on treatment for about 2 months, up from 150 ish )..md says for my age "normal" is around 500.
good luck to all.
there is a ballpark, but for some people gels simply do not work well. others absorb very readily.
just think... in the androgel literature packet: for some men to reach the target range of like 300-1000 testosterone there are some men taking 1 pump whereas others need 4. that's just to hit 300 levels. I do believe something like 20% of the men don't even reach the target testosterone level. maybe some of that is due to faster metabolizing, but also some of that is simply because of absorption issues.
what it boils down to is that knowing what percent you absorb is far less important and useful than knowing how much you need to apply to get the desired number. that's really all I'm getting at. (I.e. don't miss the forest for the trees.)
HRT student...
Well when u say it like that... Lol. I understand... By the way the quote u used "don't miss the forest from the trees" is in a book I tend to wrap my whole existence around...the "Big Book"
In a video I watched, Dr. Crisler said something like, 'gels are for men, creams are for women'. I don't remember why he said it, but maybe there is a difference in the rate of absorption between the two.
I found that video Rusty but he didn't go into detail? Man I feel like I'm just being swindled! Lol. He clearly says "creams are for girls and gels are for boys"
