Doctor insists that I cleanse once a year.

I have been on TRT for roughly 1 year now. I feel pretty lucky because I found a doctor that prescribed 300mg/wk test cyp, 1000iu/wk HCG and 1mg/wk anastrozole. My diet is great and I monitor my blood pressure daily. My question is this:

Should I be doing a cleanse once a year? The prescribed cleanse consists of 11,000iu HCG over 10 days and 100MG/day Clomiphene for 15 days.

I'm not usually one to go against the doctor's orders, however, in all of my research, I haven't heard of doing a cleanse if you are planning on staying on TRT. I thought a cleanse was only if you wanted to come off of TRT and restore your natural testosterone. I am planning on being on TRT for life because the quality of life is worth the cost to me and I also plan on blasting and cruising later on once I get to a point where its necessary to advance in bodybuilding. Should I be doing a cleanse once a year?

I'm not an expert, but I haven't heard anything about a cleanse from my dr. Personally, I'm going to stick with my protocol.

Jeez, what is your blood work like with 300 mg a week? 10 days without a shot when you are at that high dose isn't going to hurt you any. Dunno if it will help you either. But excessively high test could use some periods of lower test for a rest, but if 300 gets you in the proper range you should be fine. Guessing you are extremely elevated.

He started me out on 200mg/wk for the first 6 months then bumped it up.

I'll be honest, no point in beating around the bush.

I found this place on the internet and since day one it has always seemed to me that they just want to sell as much as they can, hence the 300mg/wk of test. He has been trying to talk me into getting on the HGH program as well since day one, and I really want to do it, and plan to do so in the future, but its not worth how much it costs right now. I feel like when I told him I wasn't going to be doing the HGH this time around he was just trying to add more meds to my order to make more money. The guy I deal with is just a rep and not the actual doctor. He told me the doctor was asking that we add the cleanse to the order and cleansing is needed and should be done. But at the same time, it seemed completely optional. I got around buying the cleanse meds by telling him I still had my cleanse meds left over from the first order (they send them with the first order in case you want to come off of TRT when your first order is done). I do still have the meds and they are still within the expiration date so if a cleanse is necessary, I will do it. I'm thinking he was just trying to make some extra money and he doesn't know that I try my best to educate myself on the internet.

Really no need if legitimately on HRT with bio-identical test. A fully functioning normal HPTA would not take a break! Your doc is really prescribing large amounts. Hopefully you are not taking the full prescription dosage as 300mg per week is a cycle, not HRT.

The cleanse you speak of is actually an altered version of a Scally PCT protocol leaving off Nolvadex which works synergistically with clomid.

Edit as I just saw your other post. You're with a clinic. They're not concerned about your health, just your $. You need to find an actual doctor to work with first-hand. TRT is for the long term. Blast all you want when you're dialed in but you first need to do just that, get dialed in. The cleanse is needed if you are going to blast up high on your blast/ cruise, reg hrt doses really don't call for it, but a real heavy blast doses should. I like 500iu 10 days straight, bromo for 20 days straight, keeping reg hrt doses consistent. My blasts WERE always long and high, you see were!!!! I don't recomd blast/cruise cycles, they are hard on your heart, and the results good as they are can be achieved on good strong reg doses anyway without your Bp rocketing!

The only TRT doctors I've ever heard of having TRT patients come off and basically run a PCT is Kingsberg Medical. They do this with most all of the patients. Is there a benefit to it? No, not if you really suffer from low testosterone. My theory (it's only a theory) is they do this so they can say they do things differently that most other programs. I think they try to use it as a selling point.

The problem with this method: a PCT is put into place to restart natural testosterone production. However, if you suffer from low testosterone you don't have the ability to naturally produce enough on your own. With this "Cleanse" as they're calling it you would feel decent while on it but it really serves no purpose.

BTW, I'm not saying you're with this company but they are the ones who normally do this.

I believe it is a liability issue. There is a lot of data that suggests the longer you are suppressed the harder it is to restart the hpta. There is some studies that suggest long term suppression my make it impossible for some to restart there hpta. If there is a cure for your particular type of Hypogonadism in your life time. You may not be able to to take advantage some doctors may see this as a liability.

I don't think there is any evidence out there that supports a "cleanse" type of situation. But to be sure, i would think a cleanse with HCG makes no sense. I think the idea would be to stimulate the HPTA but hcg would suppress it.

When it comes down to it, if you trust the doctor then they know you better than we do... it's not likely to harm as far as I know.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm going to hold off on the cleanse for now as I don't feel its needed. If anything else happens pertaining to this particular incident I will update this post.

If you have low testosterone and are a young guy (under 30) then sure, restarting your HPTA might be possible. The odds are often not in your favor and over 30, while possible it's highly unlikely in most cases.

With that in mind, most men who have low testosterone have it and will always have it unless they give the body testosterone. It doesn't cure the problem but it's not a problem like a disease. Testosterone is like the gas in your car...your car needs gas, run out of gas and you have to put gas in it to make it go. Testosterone, run out of testosterone and you can do a bunch of other garbage but the only thing that will fill the tank is testosterone.

A cure for low testosterone...in our lifetime? Doubtful, maybe late in our life but even then I'd be shocked.
