    Arrow Sharps Containers / Disposal

What does everyone do with their used needles?

Do you buy your own sharps container?

Will local pharmacies swap them out?

Some pharmacies will take them, many wont. Biomedical disposal containers can be purchased from diabetic supply centers.

I dispose of mine in clinic but most members don't have this option.

I put mine in one of those ziploc disposable containers. When its full I'll super glue the lid and toss it in the trash.

I bought one of the quart size sharps containers from Walgreens. Once it is filled they want you to ship it to their disposal center. You have to purchase a return label from their website, which, with processing, costs $17. Screw that! Instead I contacted my local health district center and they have a program where you can bring in your filled container, pay $10 and then they give you a huge 2 gallon container. So that's what I did and this big container will last a few years. Eventually, when it's full, I'll take it in, pay $10 and get another to use the following 2-3 years. Way better than having to deal with it every few months!

I put mine in big red bags and give them to the kids to play with in December.

or I just use a sharp container and when full bring it in for exchange with an empty one.

I have a needle recycle place literally across the street from my office. The guy told me to put them in a empty bleach bottle and when full bring it in. Ive heard some say they put them in empty protein containers and then take to recycle.

You can pour cement in your sharps or sny other continer holding your sharps. Also they make encapsulating foam. Same idea. Either is good and prevents people messing with your dirty needles

Really shouldn't toss in garbage under any circumstances...just sayin, it is a Haz Mat after all. You all want your land and water potentially contaminated? Well, anyway, I get the sharpies containers from CVS for 6 bucks or so and drop em off at my local FD.
