Changing my body back after cancer treatment and surgery

    Hello everyone.

My name is Michael and i am a 44 year old living in Toronto. I have twice gone through cancer treatment in the last 3 years that destroyed me. The last was over christmas into February. It took until recently for all the pain and stiffness in my joints to subside whenever i biked or tried to exercise. One of my sisters is an oncologist and has been little help as she is brain washed by no fault of her own into believing all the nonsense spouted by the AMA despite people having contrary results to the 'research'.

Nearly 3 years ago I had throat and thyroid cancer resulting in thyroidectomy and some lymphnode removal with chome. Last fall, throat scraping and DaVinci surgery with a second chemo session because they hadnt gotten it all the first time. My six month check up shows ZERO signs of recurrence. Also it wasn't a genetic but an environmental cancer. My THS is stable and normal with the daily pills.

Anyway. I have pretty decent question i think. I asked the same of all my doctors but the response is always the same "just live with it, thats life" to which i call bullshit.

I want the joint pain to stop after i bike or jog, i cant seem to get the fat that started showing up to go away and my strength is not recovering (i mean i do push ups and pull ups and sit ups but cant seem to push past a certain amount, like no strength gain )

What can i take or combination can i take to get back some semblance of a pain free healthier life? I read of all these people doing partial doses of various steroids or precursors and reporting an amazing improvement in their quality of life. I just want a little of that. Where do i start? If there is no hope and pain with a couch and TV is all i can expect for the rest of my life, i dont really see the point.

    Thanks for any answers.

    44 years old
    6' 2"
    235 lbs
    Probably near 24%
still touch my toes but losing over all flexibility rapidly even with daily stretching
I am starting to get depressed, this shouldnt be happening until into my late 50's

I would highly recommend this book even tho it was mainly based on HIV. It covers all aspects of health nutrition countering adverse reaction to medications. Medibolics Free version Overcoming HIV: Free Book from PoWeR: Built to Survive

Michael, there is nothing I hate more than to know some went though what you've gone though, but it happens. i am assuming you posted here because you're considering TRT. fortunately there are things you can do to improve your life. this is a tough one since cancer existed in your body, and still not that far from your cancer remission. as you may know injected testosterone may aggravate the slightest cancer left in your body. it may or may not, but no one really knows. TRT is not just testosterone, its also AI's, hCG and supplements to make it complete. so not sure how all these drugs can react in your body. an informed doctor is your best bet, a TRT specialist, not clinic doctors, someone who has no interest in selling you product. if you have BW please post it all with ranges, if not then you need to do a complete male hormone panel. see kelkel's thread to learn about what BW you need done.

With what you've been through I'd make an appointment and travel to one of the top docs and become their patient. One in person visit is all you need, the rest can be remote. When it comes to joint pain BW may be your key here. Look into supplements such as TB500 and MSM Powder as well. There is an interesting thread here on TB500 by Times Roman. Search it up.

    Hoping for the best!

Thank you for the responses. I will do some more reading. Checking out that book. I guess i will have to pay for a Doctor in Buffalo. I have already banged up against these guys here in Toronto. Its their way or the highway. I should have gone to Germany for the second recurrence and did the hyperthermia treatments. I probably would have gotten a more recep[tive ear there for experimenting with hgh type stuff to recover. I think that is what all the various anecdotes are about for non body building. Thanks again.

    Hey man,

Sorry to hear the hell you've been through. I would recommend Dr Welchner is Aurora. He knows his stuff when it comes to TRT and he is very open minded - one of the best in Canada.

Hi. I got that name tossed at me on Facebook. Seems he is well known. I just got out of my new Endo and she is giving me a prescription for oxandrolone. She is the first Dr i have come across to listen to me for more then 5 minutes and not blow me off. Too bad i am being transferred out to non critical care. I am going to ask her for another Dr she knows that is like minded. I might have gotten lucky.

edit; actually the name on face book is Walner in aurora but might be a typo on their part.

One of the doctors from that book is from Canada. Mauro Di Pasquale, M.D. Ontario, Canada. No idea if he is still around.

Michael. Just to let you know Ive had many men that have had prostate cancer and gone through prostatectomy, radiation pellets, ect. The day after their Urologist and Oncologist gives them the thumbs up and the PET scan is clear of cancer these men are in my office the nest day starting TRT. There is an 18 year study of men using TRT and the rate of men yearly that get cancer is .48%. Thats less than 1% of men using TRT get prostate cancer. Compare this to the national average of men "non TRT" prostate cancer is 1 out of 6 men. There seems to be compelling evidence thats TRT and monitoring estrogen is benifital to prostate ca. Unbalanced hormones can also be the catalyst for many other cancers. Heres an interesting article of the application of TRT for joint and pain management. TRT is fantastic for chronic pain and joint tendonitis.

I would avoid playing the OHIP ping pong game, it will only end in frustration and wasted time. Most endos in Ontario know jack shit about TRT and will blow you off. Dr Welchner deals not only with TRT, but nutrition as well. He is the real deal.

Sorry to hear of your struggles Michael. Most everyone here can relate, in that we've all been dismissed by the medical establishment in one way or another. Please don’t allow them to win. You know, like we all did, that something just isn’t right. It’s not your imagination. Be persistent until you find that one professional who is willing to listen & work with you. Best of luck...

I also went through a lot of surgeries, but not cancer. I have, and still do deal with pain. It is a long road. The doctors really do not have many answers. If they do not want to use steroids , My suggestion is speak with a herbalist, it will not hurt, and some people have good results.
I would like to add: Educate yourself so you will know what to ask your doctors. Write yourself some notes. Doctors seem to have a knack as not to lead, and most of the time will not tell you about any new meds, or treatments. So get on the web look up new treatments, and new meds that have been approved by the FDA. I can say for myself that T really is helping me with my pain, and I have had shoulder reconstruction/with Ulnar Transposition...Muscle loss, and cramping just comes along with it. T has stopped the cramping, and reversing the muscle loss, along with many other things. I wish you the best of luck

Thanks guys for the responses. I contacted the clinic already and also had an interesting Skype with a guy in the uk who is using hgh 4 months a year and has for years. He looks amazing and says he feels like he is still mid 30's all the time. He is 59.

Sorry about all you've been through. I live in Buffalo, and I don't know too many good doc's around here for what you're looking for. If you have a doc's name from down here, send me his name in a pm, and I'll check around to see if he's worth the money and trip down here.
