    TRT challenge

I've decided to go get tested to see if I'm a TRT candidate.

Being 44, I do everything possible to stay in great health and to support my BB habit. Have not done a cycle in 15 years.

That said, should I lay off anything like supplements or working out prior to getting blood work? Wondering if all of my efforts might be artificially raising my levels? No sex?

T is definitely in the lower range, but don't want to do something to spike it too high before a blood test.

Thoughts? Anything I should/should not do prior to testing?

    Thanks guys.

no need to fast unless you're doing glucose and lipids. like power said just keep doing what you're doing and see where you stand based on your current lifestyle.

I know that LowT says to not have sex within 24 hours of blood test. If you are taking DHEA or pregnenolene you may want to discontinue with them also because they are supposed to help either increase T or decrease estrogen. Can't remember which.

Correct, if there's a PSA test you want to avoid ejaculating for the 24hrs prior to your blood test. If you do, this could potentially skew your PSA reading. It could increase the number to where you'd have to be first cleared by a urologist before you could receive TRT. It might very well be an inaccurate number due to the ejaculation, but it's still the number that shows on the blood test and that's what any legally practicing doctor has to go by.

Correct....although intercourse prior to BW actually has a bigger impact on PSA tests than hormone panels but its still wise to abstain for two days prior.

bass ive seen that fasting could cause higher free t levels so i do it just to be safe.

I think there is a lipid panel on there.. My test isn't until like 10 am. fasting that long will be no fun since I usually drink a shake when I rise at 5am.

Interesting that fasting will raise free t

I don't know much about the specifics of MPB, but at present I have a full head of hair, maybe a little thinner on top than it used to be, but definitely not what I had when I was in my 20's.

So, are there any guys out there that have started trt in their 40's who had full heads of hair, and after starting trt have lost their hair or had significant accelerated thinning? Curious.
