    Estrogen / Testosterone Question????

    Hey fella's,

I recently had my lab work done, and these were some of the readings:

    Estrogen. 115. Ref Range- 40-115

    Testosterone Serum. 368 Ref Range-348-1197

Free Testosterone 8.7. Ref Range- 6.8-21.5

As you can see my Testosterone is pretty low, and my Dr. Is helping me with this. But my Dr. Doesn't mention anything about "Estrogen" and I've read that this is also important. As you can see my Estrogen level is maxed at 115.

The Estrogen level has me a bit concerned. Can anyone advise on whether I should be concerned, or is this level normal?

    Thanks in advance.

When you raise your testosterone , estrogen will most likely follow. This is normal. Many who have a higher level of estrogen conversion need to be on an AI (aromatase inhibitor). This slows done the conversion which allows the test to go up and Estrogen to decrease. Too much and you will have bad side effects from it being too low which are just as bad as too high.

The AI I am on is anastrozole. There are different ones but it surely seems like there needs to be something done to decrease your E.

Standard protocol for TR is Test and HCG . An AI is not always standard but many are on it if their E gets too high. There are other ways to decrease your E that are OTC but I am not familiar enough with them to offer advice. Someone will though.

Your numbers definitely seem like you should have TRT or at minimum a very good candidate for it. There are lots of other factors that play into this though.

He never said anything about raising his test. The test he is using for estrogen is no good. You need to tell him that you want the sensitive estrogen tested. He still should have gave you an air if your estrogen is at the top range anyway. Your t is on the borderline of normal in insurance companies eyes. I still think its low. Your free t is awful. Your t and estrogen are to close to together. You cannot feel good I bet. Are you a fat dude? If so I would cardio and diet my ass off and you could get your estrogen in check

dread, he did make note that his doctor is helping him with his test. That is why I replied the way I did.

100% agree on the diet and cardio plus other exercising. You would want to do this no matter how you were treated medically.

Estrogen total tells nothing, you need your E2 tested. Total can be high at 115 and E2 could be low which is your main concern.

Once you get your test protocol started, request E2 blood work during your follow up labs.

Do you have more BW you can post for review! Many things can cause Low T including lifestyle, and it would help us help you if we can see more panels.
As stated above, the sensitive assay is what is needed to properly access things.

Thank you Brett. Your reply was very informative, and I thank you.

In your comment you mentioned anastrozole. Is this something I can get at Vitamin Shoppe, or is this strictly pharmacy?

FRDave, thanks for your reply. Again, very informative, I didn't know their was a E-2, because none of the articles I've been reading mentioned it. They only mention estrogen. I will request to have this test particular test done. Question though, do I request estrogen E-2 test be done, or do I request all Estrogen tests be done? Will my Doc know the difference? He is no endo, but a regular doctor.

Thanks for the reply dreadnok89. Also great info. To answer your question, I am 6-2 250, and no, I often times dont feel good, and i am tired a lot.
And I am working on the cardio part.

You mentioned my "Free T was awful, and to close to my estrogen."
-Can I raise my Free T alone, without raising my Estrogen?
-When I raise my Test serum, will that automatically raise my Free T?
-Should I buy an Aromatize Inhibitor? If yes, which one is best?

The main question now is what is he doing to help you. Are you on anything now? What I meant is you have high estrogen already without taking any testosterone supplement I would try and get your estrogen in check before you do anything. When I dropped 60 pounds my estrogen went to low-normal. Listen to fr Dave and get the E2 checked. Lowering your estrogen can get free T up. Aromas in or exestamane is excellent for that. I believe anastrolze is harsher of an AI

Presently applying Androgel 1.62% 2 times a day. Would something like Clomid help in reducing Estrogen, and elevating Test?

    Thanks in advance.

What's there looks fine. We need panels that you'll find in the "Finding A Doc" sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Cool, I take a look at that. I saw a Endo yesterday, and he stated my numbers looked good also, even though the Estrogen was on the high side.

I m not really seeing any "Real" noticeable changes since being on Androgel , and he suggested increasing the dosage to 4 pumps/day. I asked for "Clomid" because I read that increases test, without causing the system to shut Down.

    What say you?
