How much blood should I give?

Ok my Hematocrit is 50.7 and I've decided to bite the bullet and give blood. However the only hospital where I live is so f*%ked up they don't even accept blood donations. They buy it all off island. My friend who is qualified said we could have you come in and drain me. How much should I take out?

Is there a local Red Cross on the island? If there is, you can just walk in and donate, after answering some initial questions.

Hospitals don't perform phlebotomies in house. They get it through blood donation centers.

I have to do a medical dump because I lived in Europe during a creutzfeldt jackob outbreak. My then doctor specked 1 unit. It could have been a bit more judging from my new doctors review of my BW. Otherwise, a regular donation should be fine.

There is, but they don't do it either.

Not the hospital here. They buy all their blood from Ohio. Actually my friend said it would be no problem to come over to my home and do it. He works at the hospital and is qualified to do it. We just didn't know how much to take out?

He guessed a beer bottle's worth

Sure, if that's a 16 oz beer bottle.

I'm not sure what you mean by "they don't do it." What exactly have you been told when you inquired at the American Red Cross? Unless it's just a corporate office, if you have an American Red Cross center on your island, they absolutely DO take blood donations. And you can just "walk in" to donate.

Why waste it by doing it at home. Your blood is needed and can save lives. I give to keep myself healthy while on TRT but I'm very gratified to know that my blood will go to help others

I don't know anyone that allows more than a pint to be drawn at in one session.

You're probably talking to the OP, but I'm going to do it every 8 weeks. I even lowered my t dose. I got a little worried seeing that number.
