    Ciprofloxacin- anti-biotic

    Ciprofloxacin side effects: This is just an anti-biotic
    Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to ciprofloxacin: hives, or the first sign of a skin rash; fast heartbeat, difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

    Ciprofloxacin may cause swelling or tearing of (rupture) a tendon. It can also have serious effects on your nerves, and may cause permanent nerve damage. Stop taking this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have:

    1) Headache with chest pain and severe dizziness, fainting, fast or pounding heartbeats;

    2) Nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);

    3) Muscle weakness or trouble breathing;

    4) Diarrhea that is watery or bloody;

    5) Sudden weakness or ill feeling, fever, chills, sore throat, mouth sores, easy bruising or bleeding;

    6) Depression, confusion, hallucinations, paranoia, tremors, feeling restless or anxious, unusual thoughts or behavior, insomnia, nightmares;

    7) seizure (convulsions); or

    8) Increased pressure inside the skull-- severe headaches, ringing in your ears, dizziness, nausea, vision problems, pain behind your eyes.

    Common ciprofloxacin side effects may include:

    1) Stomach discomfort, vomiting, mild diarrhea;

    2) vaginal itching or discharge;

    3) Mild dizziness; or mild headache.

    Cipro isn't as crazy as the list of possible sides makes it seem.
    You'll be fine.

    Bonaparte made a good point.

    FYI: Back in the day when there was that big scare of Anthrax attacks, Cipro was the most effective drug to treat this disease. It's an excellent medication and it was going to save the world from that "dirty bomb". So many people were stockpiling that there was even a shortage then. I'm sure there are still lots of people who have a couple of bottles in the back of their medicine cabinets.

    But more recently, spontaneous tendon ruptures have been linked to this antibiotic - in a miniscule number of people. Pharma company had to make this public to cover their ass.

    I recently developed a severe hand infection from an injury. Freak thing. Went to a specialist to get treated. The only antibiotic that I was able to take to treat it was Cipro. Doc informed me of the possible side effects but it was that or get sick from other medications - or worse.

    No side effects, easy on the GI system - and not tendon ruptures. But that's me.

    I want to thank both of you GENTLEMAN a bunch ! I started yesterday and I thought I was not burning when I peed and I was not I was burning when I had the urge to pee . I have taken 3 tab as scripted and amazed at the difference . I have so much pain I tend to ignore minor pain and try to control major pain ! I did read that it was used to threat amthrax ?

    I posted a detail thread in the over 40 forum and the VA is better in Atlanta than any group of Dr. I have seen since I was crushed by the truck in 02 ?

    Due to decreased kidney function the Dr. put me on an Inslin producing tab & recommended reduce protein intake (after almost 15 mths on a primary protein diet and happy with resuls this seems impossible to change ) Thoughts ? I also posted a question about it ? It would seem great for type II Diabetes and the fact that it causes an up tick in Inslin production ? GLIPIZIDE ? looks like a great compound even if no type II Diabetes ?
