HCG dose & trying to have a kid...

Just curious if those of you that we're able to get your wife pregnant with HCG had to up the dose from what you started with or if the standard dose that worked for you was enough to get the job done?

I've been on TRT now for 6 months & have been using HCG from the beginning (300 iu's twice a week). My wife has only been off the pill now for a couple weeks...I know it'll take some time, but this just crossed my mind & I thought I'd see what worked for the fellas on here.

Really don't want to mess with my dose right now as I feel that I'm just about dialed in & feeling pretty good after a few changes & blood pulls.

    Thanks for any info!

You might want to ask your doctor about prescription FSH. That will stimulate the Sertoli cells in the testes which produce sperm. hMG is another option - contains both hCG an FSH. Whichever is less expensive for you.

My fertility doctor prescribed me 2000 iu 3x a week for stimulating the reproductive system but that was also due to several years of TRT and possible upcoming vasectomy reversal.

ive been on trt since 2006, and my wife could not have kids, went to a feritility specialist and she wanted to have us spend a ton of cash and go her route.. i stepped in and told her, look we want to take baby steps, and start with something we can afford, and said let US try clomid first, if it doesnt work we will work our way up the cash ladder from there, well she almost shit when we called her like 2 months later and guess what PREGNANT...

fastforward a few more years, clomd again pregnant,

fast forward a few more (recently) and i was still on trt, and i decided to take clomid as ive read it can also be coupled with trt to help raise the test a bit especially if u did miss a shot or something, so i took clomid along with my hcg and test and guess what: pregnant...

clomid works... hmg works, hcg works along side clomid... from my experience anyways, never used hmg, only added clomid to my regimen and BLAMO kiddos all over the place!

Good to hear. My fertility doctor actually gave me a RX for HCG and Clomid saying I could try either one or both if one or the other did not work and then talk about other options.

Yes, this is really good news. I've never used clomid and at my age I'm not planning children but I am interested in restoring my testes to full functioning just because I like the idea of, well, full functioning. My urologist once suggested it in passing but I passed on it.

My questions to all with knowledge of clomid is this: Is there any advantage of taking clomid on TRT aside from increased fertility? What are the side effects for long term use?

My inquiry has everything to do with quality of life. My thought is if our body is restored to as close to full functioning as possible, how we "feel" is improved. For example, to my knowledge hCG acts mainly on the Leydig cells of the testes and to a much lesser degree (or not all all) on the Sertoli cells which produce sperm. When I began hCG after having been on TRT for seven months, my testes started to return to close to normal size, my orgasms improved a good deal and ejaculate volume increased. I'm very grateful for this but I feel there is still room for much more improvement. My theory is that clomid may make for more of this improvement, since the entire testes would then be stimulated.

Thus the reason for my question. I've also heard that there can also be uncomfortable side effects to this medication so I'm very interested in people's experiences. I'm also interested in comments on my theory.

Do you have any concerns about running clomid long term? I responded very well to clomid only therapy however I switched to conventional HRT because of the lack of information on clomids long term effects.

Yes, I do. All medications should be approached with caution. I'd much rather go with hMG or FSH - more natural approaches to normal testes functioning - but at this point in time, long term treatment with either of these is prohibitively expensive.

It took about a year of trying to get my wife preggy with 250iu 2xweek of HCG . While on 200mg/week of test e

Also remember that you are just one third of the equation. Your wife has to be fertile as well. And the third part has to be from a higher power.

One thing that helped was not being stressed. Especially the wife. Try not to "make it" happen. But take more of a "let it" happen approach.

Did he offer the Clomid in addition to test or just the Clomid by itself? I've read here Clomid won't do any good if you're using test, it's just not 'powerful' enough. I've asked my doc about it but he's clueless.
