on TRT have lots of questions
Hello,
So I am 40 soon to be 41. Last summer, i decided to see my primary care Doc. because of low energy, cranky, lack of focus low libido. she ran some Blood work and everything cam back normal. Including test, it was 685. She said it was all in my head.
4 weeks ago i seen a different Dr, and a plastic surgery center, who also does HRT. we did a blood test and my Test level was at 400. So he prescribed me TRT.
okay here is where i need your input.
prescribes 2 cc of Test Cyp a week. that is 400mg of test a week for 10 weeks. I thought he was crazy, and that it seemed way too much. Doc told me they treat how you feel not the number.
he also prescribed Anastrozole 1mg 2x a week and Tamoxifen 20 mg 2 x a week.
I went against his recommendations and i am only doing 1cc of Test Cyp a week. Do I need to take the other stuff?
I am on week 3 and I feel good. I have energy, I'm happy, and i have been having great workouts. I am planning on a blood test during week 6 or 7.
my blood test last year before TRT my hematocrit was 52.2 and my hemoglobin was 18.2. my normal doctor didn't say it was a problem. I eat a lot of read meat 3x a week lunch and dinner( elk and deer) and i live at 5000' elevation. I also hang out at 8000 to 10000 elevation about once every month or so. She just said i was in good cardio shape and i attribute that to working out for the past 20 years. okay so what should i do?

Your doc sounds like he's trying to run you on a cycle and not trt.

I'd suggest you back up and and start from the beginning. And that includes finding a new doctor!
Others with more knowledge can comment further but if you had been feeling these symptoms at 685 total T - which is a pretty good number - you ought to have had other diagnostic tests done to find out what could be the cause of your feeling so badly. It's just good medicine to do so.
Further, a starting dose of 400mg/week is insane, and 200mg/week is not much better. These are NOT starting doses for TRT - period. I'd advise you stop this protocol immediately - including stopping the anastrozole and Tamoxifen . Begin a more sensible two times per week dosing of 50mg every 3.5 days (total 100mg/week). I'd also suggest you cut down the anastrozole to .25mg the day after each T shot. Sit back and see how you feel. And lose the Tamox completely. You might not even need and AI at that protocol.
I'd suggest you post your complete labs, and include the ranges. The experts here can then contribute further.

Running 400/week for 10 weeks makes no sense. Even at 200/week, OP will be shut down and feeling worse than before after the 10 weeks is done. Without an AI your Estrogen levels will also be drastically elevated. Listen to Sox & Kel above...

i am currently taking 1cc a week going to do an 8 or 10 week cycle.
when should i take the anastrozole 1 mg and Tamoxifen 20 mg?

If you're going on trt, no need for a pct. I think your trying to do too much at once. Are you starting trt or doing a cycle?

Op, your making no sense? Are you gonna cycle or are you going on TRT for life? Once you start 200 or 400 mgs per week in a month you will be shut down, maybe permanently. Personally I wouldn't be so concerned with the serm or AI but rather what your getting into?
With a TT at 700 and a second test at 418, do you not think it would be prudent to be tested again, first thing in the morning? The "plastic surgeon" place sees dollars signs on you and nothing more IMO.

I would like to treat this as an 8 to 10 week cycle of 200mg a week. then reassess. I am 3 weeks into it right now. i am planning on doing blood work at week 5 or 6.
is there an issue with doing 200mg a week for 8 to 10 weeks?

Kinda pointless honestly. You're shutting your natural production down and replacing it artificially. This is why most cycles are at least 400mg or more.
You should back away from the needle. It sounds to me like you should have had levels rechecked, no reason for your test levels to drop 300 points in less then a year, save injuries or something.
Step back from the dr. he's trying to make money, and obviously doesn't know what he's doing

I also think you're confused about trt. This isn't something you just try out. It never ends. Once you start, you're shut down, and you are sticking yourself with a needle for the rest of your life.
Please educate yourself on this
