My Dad
So today my dad approached me asking about getting on some of my home brew as TRT. He is in his early 50's and its apparent he has lost his drive. He sits around all day and has zero motivation, I've noticed he is loosing his memory and he definitely needs to go out and enjoy life. He has lost some of his confidence after my parents got divorced and is dating some one who his is obviously unhappy with. For these reasons I think TRT would be a good idea. keep in mind he is not trying to become buff, he just wants to improve his life quality
I have some concerns however. He has had history of high cholesterol and he drinks. I cant remember if nolva has a good impact of cholesterol or if it was liver enzymes? Either way what kind of health measures are needed with trt.
He wants to "try it out", so I was thinking of starting with a low dose of prop for 2 weeks, then switching him over to Ethanate. If he was to it out for a few weeks would he need to run a pct? Him being on clomid concerns me. He already can already be emotional and with him drinking i see that ending badly if he decides to get off. In an ideal world he obviously needs to stop drinking, but he its not like he is on the bottle, its more like 2 beers daily.
I think a good dose for him would be 175mg every 5 days of ethanate. and 5-10mg of nolva?
Is trying trt just a total bad idea with out a doctor? my guess would be if he likes it he will approach a doctor and have his blood work handled though that.
Any ideas, concerns, comments, advise would be helpful. I see trt being the start of his new and better life, so he can go out and LIVE! But I dont want to put his saftey at risk. thanks guys.Last edited by DAAS; 06-22-2014 at 11:59 AM.

mate
don't play doctor!
have him do it the right way by starting with blood panels. without the bloods, you are shooting in the dark.
I have some concerns as follows:
1) without an Rx, he will be reliant on UGL. This means variable quality and the risk of intermittent supply disruptions
2) he's my age. Have him do a sleep study. He could have sleep apnea. Very common for blokes our age. symptoms are cognitive impairment, memory fade, general lethargy, and other symptoms.
3) finally, it's a bad idea to try TRT to see how it feels. TRT takes time for the benefits to be realized. Up to three years (bone density improvement, for example). He probably has low T anyways, and if he "tries TRT" and then decides to discontinue, he may not fully recover what little test his body is currently producing.

^have his doctor supply it. the quality will be more consistent and the supply more stable as opposed to buying it on the black market.
he does have insurance, right?

have the insurance cover what it will, and then you can fill in the blanks.
I don't take an AI (no issues with E), nor HCG . Pretty much just test, and that serves me well. But every one is different.

My plan is 70mg/week
...but I actually take 80mg/week. My total test is in the 700's, can't remember what my free test is like, but it wasn't too bad before TRT
And have your dad start off with a low dose. No more than 100mg. There is this psychological aspect to TRT in that I've noticed when a doctor starts a member off too high, there is the big reluctance by the member to drop the dose for some reason. So if your dad starts off at 100mg, and not enough (it probably will be), he can always bump it up.

I'd say before doing anything go get him some basic bloods. If he doesn't want to see a dr, just go to privatemd and order the usual tests and drag him down to Labcorp.
He needs a baseline before doing anything; prescribed or not.

I donate every other month through Delta Blood
looking into Red Cross and donating every other month there too
the more test you take, the higher the risk of having high RBC

when you say 80 a week do you take a once a week shot or do you still try and increase more stable levels by doing multiple shots?

once a week is fine mate.
having to pin more frequently kinda defeats the point of using a slow burning esther, don't you think?

I'm 52. Went to Dr. and found my T was around 250. He gave me Testim and I've been happy for the past 3+ years. Yea, I've read 1000 times that Testim sucks-whatever. No Hcg , so I get it myself. Ins. should cover whatever type of Test the Dr. prescribes. I don't know why it wouldn't be covered if he is, in fact, low. You wanna add some spice to his life, pick him up a bottle of cialis from the sponser site. He'll be forever grateful
But, I would not suggest that you be in charge of his care. Hopefully, a Dr. will take care of him.

2 beers are day hardly makes someone "a drinker".
Nolva has a positive effect on lipids, but you don't want to use it just for that. That's what statins are for.
