HRT: Libido Fluctuations?
This is a question I have remained unclear on despite having a close friend currently on HRT.
Do you guys feel that you experience positive sex drive fluctuations similar to when you were young & virile? If no fluctuations, do you feel that on an ongoing basis, you have that "replenishment" of libido after sexual activity, like you used to naturally?
This is a difficult question to phrase. My understanding is that with HRT, libido is more "constant". Fewer highs and lows. So does that mean you don't have days where you're super horny?
And again - do you experience: "I just had sex, and I will be horny again this evening" ? The replenishment element is *almost as good* (to me) as those days where I used to be especially horny. If you notice a quick recovery period that would be great.
The reason I ask…
My fear is that once you get yourself from say "240" up to "500" .... You will only experience that initial rush. And after that? Almost like there's no libido. Or it's blah.
You just know via blood work that you are not in a dangerously low testosterone range. You're not exactly feeling like a guy who's naturally at 500. A guy who has naturally normal testosterone levels would have a quick recovery. And days where he's super horny because he hasn't released in a few days.
Is that true with HRT? Even a year or two in?
Thanks.

I never had much of an issue with Libido pre TRT. After starting though I did get an increase after about a month or so that lasted a couple weeks...was rediculous, but of coarse we both enjoyed it ! Have been back to normal since, but have only been on TRT for 8.5 months so I've been dialing in pretty much the whole time. I have noticed that when I ran my E2 in the low 20's Libido was still good, but it's better for me in the low to mid 30's! Other than that...just depends what my wife is wearing...or not wearing, lol! Especially with her new "bolt-ons" !

Your post confirms what I mentioned above (the initial ramping up bliss…)
Still wondering about the questions mentioned:
Are you able to "reboot" quickly like when you had natural Testosterone levels ?
Does libido continue to increase, the longer you go without "releasing"?
Do you have days where you are just inexplicably horny compared to previous days?
I'm trying to differentiate between being at T level of 800 naturally, versus a T level of 800 artificially.
I keep hearing that on HRT, libido is "even". My fear is that this translates to "blah" despite being at 800-ish.

I'd say the re-booting thing is a bit faster, but not much...as I mentioned I never had any problems Libido wise pre TRT, so kinda hard to say! I'm definately more horny at any given time just like I use to be. Sometimes I feel like rapin my wife & sometimes I just want it...sometimes I just make her happy & of coarse while I'm in there...I'm pretty happy aswell ! In my experience...Libido is not even. It's just like it used to be...prolly a bit enhanced sometimes. Actually now that I think about it...it was more even pre TRT. I'm sure everyone is diferent in this matter...depending where you run your E2 especially!

There is no clear answer to your question. Just like everything else, results and side effects affect every individual differently. Even if the majority feel a certain way, it doesn't mean you will.

I think there are so many factors to consider here and as BallSak said above the answer will vary from individual to individual. In my view, age is a major factor to consider and for others your past history, e.g. drugs, steroid abuse , trauma. A guy on TRT in his thirties will have a very different response than a guy in his sixties, like myself. Most men in their twenties can "release" - as you put it - and 15 minutes later be ready to go at it again. I'm sure some of you can remember nights where you screwed so many times in one night, you lost count. I can. But those days are gone. A body accumulates some miles (or experiences difficulties) and just can't do the things it used to - no matter TRT or what great physical shape it's in. And I haven't heard of anyone on TRT that can do all night marathons like that - although maybe there are some out there. And what does it matter? We live in the now. In my view, worrying about minutiae and degrees of "horniness" is not a useful way to spend ones time. What does one accomplish by it?
I don't want to be severe or make less of your concerns but I think not only are your worries terribly unproductive but I also think they border on the ungrateful. TRT has given you - all of us - a new life. Think about how blessed you are compared to how you were before you began; all the ways you life has improved. Hell, I'd like my erections to be harder and sometimes I wish I could have sex multiple times in one night, but I have to be realistic. And I have to realize - as do you - that I can't fight time or Mother Nature, or for others, years of self abuse and serious mistakes. TRT never promised anyone perfection. Just an incredibly improved quality life. Do you think you could think about this more?Last edited by 2Sox; 07-05-2014 at 10:22 PM.

I'm not on it yet. Deciding whether or not to. I'm 39 and at about 260.
Definitely not expecting a global truth. Just personal experiences. Very much appreciate more votes on the above questions if anyone out there wants to comment.
Thanks.

Libido is not just about testosterone .
If you have full BW post it up. There may be something within that's suppressing your T level.
And testosterone is testosterone. What we inject is the same as what our bodies endogenously produce. If you are at such a low level and there's no way to improve it naturally then TRT can be a godsend for you.
It's something our parents generation did not have the benefit of. Think about that.

This is an absolute truth. I completely agree. It's been apparent from many of the posts here that many men on TRT just don't seem to realize it. Many others realize it but will not accept it. And there has been much discussion here on the subject. Do a search and you will see. It's always body AND mind.

I guess I'm not going to get an answer to my questions then. They are just "Yes or No" questions. But there seems to be strong resistance to comment. I will sift through the thousands of posts and see if I can get the questions answered that way.

Before trt my wife and I had sex once a month on average.
After trt twice a week on average.
I don't believe the increase is just due to labido, I credit as much if it to increased overall energy and mood as I do sexual thoughts.
I'm not walking around horny as hell at risk of screwing anything on 2 legs with a vagina... Just an overall better husband and father now, which has it's rewards!
