25 and just started trt

Hi everyone I just started trt and my test was 245 on a 350-850 scale, only number doc gave me. He started me on 130mg of test e and will be doing monthly blood work. I was wanting to just do a cycle or two but couldn't find a supplier. My friend, who is 24, has had exellent results from trt so I went this route. My test was probably low anyways but I used the lack of food, sleep and drinking alcohol in excess method to be sure my number was at its lowest point. This site has helped me so I figured I'd post my progress on trt to help anyone else considering it.

Why on earth would someone your age want TRT without trying to fix whatever was causing your low T?
Or, is your low T brought about by cycling?

Not trying to jump on you but this absolutely amazes me. I need more info please.

I am def with Kel here...I would think you would have wanted to have exhausted all other avenues and figure out if there is a simple fix to your below average testosterone levels and that maybe it had something to do with your thyroid, estrogen etc. not guessing just giving examples but to have just heard that your test was low and to hop right on TRT was a VERY serious decision and it seems like you're much more comfortable than you should be with this decision maybe because you saw that your friend had good results with it? I think maybe it's not too late to try to start yourself back up again and show other bloodwork on here to the vets??? again...I don't really know the story 100% but it seems like you haven't stressed all other options yet which is something to worry about? Maybe you don't care?

you guys are off base, he is going to cycle anyways, and the only risk is (potentially) committing to TRT for life, which is the same risk he takes when cycling

Wtf are you talking about? If someones cycling properly 25+ his chances of recovering from a cycle are good. Anyone in their right mind would rather cycle and recover properly then just go on TRT for life at 25 because they're "potentially" running the risk of not recovering anyway...So do the worst outcome possible before it even happens? Might as well not wear a parachute next time you go sky diving because it's "possible" for it not to work and for you to die. Some of the dumbest advice and sh*t i've ever heard..Plus that's not even what he's f*cking talking about..YOU'RE OFF BASE

We need to hear that from him. And cycling doesn't justify shutting down ones HPTA and committing to TRT just because there's a "chance" he may not fully recover.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will get the detailed blood work from my doc on Tuesday. I havent made any gains in the past year and a half is why I looked to trt. I don't know if the low t was from alcohol or the over the counter test boosters I used a couple of years ago which did nothing but give me terrible acne. I started lifting hard at 20 and went from 138 to 200 in 3 years I am 6'2 and have only increased my gym time and food intake since then.

Seeing my friends results, who has low t from cycling, is what made me so comfortable with trt. I have been on the fence about it for a while, and really wanted to just do a cycle myself but couldn't find a supplier. Also my insurance pays for every thing and the doc doesn't charge me a co pay because I am military.

Love to see your pre-TRT blood work. And honestly, if you don't need TRT you should not do this. Your shutting down your HPTA. I doubt there's any other functioning systems in your body you'd want to just shut down. On top of that, you're looking at 50 years of injections. 50! Fvck that.

ps: Great progress going from 138 to 200.

Tell that to the thousands of casual cyclers who ended up shut down, and contrary to popular belief, you could easily run 100 mg/week TRT for a couple years, and still have a decent chance of recovering fine, but I can promise you they wont do that when they realize the wonderful benefits of a properly managed trt protocol

and you take this wayyy to seriously, testosterone at the right dose is one of the most healthy things you can put into your body as far as longevity, quality of life, etc , an adequate amount of testosterone mean you will be sexually aroused, you will be engaged in life, your brain and its neurotransmitters will be alive will be functioning, the degradation of your mental health is the dominant factor in setting off pretty much every disease you can think of

go on trt and dont look back, i am 25 and went on TRT at 22, best decision of my life, just realize that you now need to be diligent about your health, which paradoxically, ends up being a good thing because your health improves across the board because you become more conscious of the daily decisions you are making in regards to nutrition, training, injury prevention, preventative blood work, mental health/mood etc etc, and its just an upward spiral in your social life, sex life, your profession, hobbies, adventures, new experiences etc etc

He said everything besides the test was great, but my SHBG was pretty high and that that would cause my free test to go down. I had a tramatic brain injury last deployment which greatly effects my sleep. He said that could be a cause of my low t.

Do you have your LH & FSH levels by chance?

What are you doing for your sleep issues? Did you have an MRI to make sure of no damage to your Pituitary and Hypothalamus?

He said those levels were good, didn't give a number though. I am taking trazadone for sleep issues. I don't take it every night though. The incredible doctors at the VA hospital don't seem to think I need an MRI. I had a sleep study done and I get very little to no REM sleep.

I go through the VA too. You would think with a TBI they would have no problem signing you up for an MRI. You may have to go on-line and do a search for who runs the clinic you go too and contact them directly. Sometimes you have to go over their heads to get what you need.

25 is pretty young to have to start on TRT.

Does the VA prescribe you the test?

27 does seem very young! Think long term, hope everything works out ok

I'm 33 and I kept hearing I was too young, too young. Yet despite diet, lifting, running for years and year, I was still Low T. It was aggravating to hear this from Doctors and forum people alike.

I struggled with Low T for the past 5-10 years, but my levels never came back naturally. Only yesterday, my doc wrote me a script because I am simply not interested in sex, at all, at 33 years old. Everything else in my body seems normal, cept my T levels.

Everyone is different. Based on information provided, it is best he get some more information medically before deciding on TRT.

Yes I get Test Cypionate from the VA. I am 38 years old and started on it when I was 34, T Level of 150.

I had all sorts of tests done before starting on it. Full hormone panel. Thyroid, Cortisol, Sleep study. I still wish I had an MRI done for peace of mind.

Are there any really bad side effects of starting trt this young or having to be on it for a long ass time? Dr told me about the infertility stuff and increase in red blood cells.

TRT is different than running a Cycle.

When you a run a Cycle and follow PCT your Natural Test Levels will come back.

* Remember though that they might have a Natural T Level of like 600, not a low of 245.


With TRT if you stop taking TRT your levels will go back to their prior low levels. *245 sometimes lower.


There is a potential for Infertility and High RBC.

You can reduce the chances of Infertility by supplementing with HCG while on TRT.

If your RBC level goes High, you can donate blood which will lower your RBC.


I still recommend getting an MRI, based on your TBI.

I got a full hormone panel, cost me a lot of money (stupid insurance), never had a sleep study, but I did get an MRI which came back normal.

They did pretty extensive blood work on me. Not sure exectly what but there was several pages.
