kaiser permanente and trt

i was wondering if anyone on here has kaiser and is on trt.my doctor booked me for a blood test and said if my t is low then they will do something about it?he said they do give the shots but not everyone qualifies for injections.:

1. contact kaiser permananete (use the yellow pages or internet to search for this info)
2. ask them if they will cover you ( you will probbaly need to give them your member number)

sorry i didnt have time to google their customer service number- you might find it printed on your membership card if they gave you one.

Kaiser here. My primary Doc was not on board with TRT as my numbers were low (300 something), but not that low I guess for him. I stood fast and he said he would recommend me to a specialist. The specialist (urologist) was totally on board and started me right away after further BW. But no AI or HCG ...I'm trying to educate him on those as he was open about it and said he didn't know much about them.

I did the pub-med method with information the board recommended. Once my doctor saw I was using medical studies and not just making information up, he changed his tune. Studies by more reputable individuals are best, but take what you can and talk to them. Also shows you are educating yourself on the subject.

Just my two cents

Totally agree, my Doc was supposedly honest and said he didn't know much about HCG and AI but said if I have information to send it his way, which I have done. Now to schedule an appointment and see him face to face again and see where he stands now.

My experience in Kaiser sucked. I had my T at 180 and my GP put me into TRT. 200mg/every two weeks. When I was trying to argue that 100mg/weekly is a more modern protocol (I didn't even get to HCG part), I was referred to specialist (Endo). It was also very clear that no way could I have started pinning myself at home but were asked to visit the nurse's office (unnecessary logistics hassle).

Endo stopped TRT and then it was a time for more tests. Endo took more blood work and did some other tests and she determined that my free T levels were normal (for 80yrs old). At the time my T was around 295 and free T was 52.1 in the scale of 35-155 (don't ask what it was as I never got this on paper). Typically, my free test at the times (calculated) were between 6.43-7.73 that were % values from total T but not that great absolute values. Anyway, my Endo closed my case and that's it.

After that I went on Clomid on my own and I've posted some of the results here in case anybody is interested. I have to give kudos for Kaiser GP for agreeing to take my blood work every three months so that I could follow the results of my Clomid experiment.

Maybe different Kaiser places have a different practices but assuming that they use their standard practices, I would think that you need to go elsewhere to get help.

Well I talked to my doctor and told her I went to a trt clinic and they wanted to put me on a cc a week of 250 mg of test. And they do not accept my insurance. She said I have not seen you since 2012. Before I prescribe you testosterone I need to see you and get blood work. The thing is I still have a week and a half of novadex pct. I want to wait at least a month before getting blood work.

.gov is cracking down on doctors that freely prescribe without a doctors visit. Insurance companies are also telling docs, especially with schedule type drugs, to get blood tests. They won't honor your prescription without one. She is however doing the right thing.

All your BW with Kaiser are recorded and available on line. I have all mine since day one.

sterone levels and estrogen levels, and if my testosterone levels were dangerously low I would qualify. Not below level.... They are not big fans of it and it is watched over .

I had kaiser a few years ago, had T level at 220-ish and my Dr, wouldnt even do additional blood work let alone talk about TRT. Left Kaiser ASAP and found a different doctor. Good luck with that

My levels were over 500 so I think in good for now but I do want another doc in the future.
