High HGB on Test C. The Dr, I'm pretty sure is going to drop my injections

Went for my 6 month bloods day before yesterday, and he said per some blood work that I had back in Nov, my HGB is not in check. Normal range is 13.2-17.3 g/dL and I checked in Nov at 18.3 . He said this was an area of concern so he wanted to do another draw. Well low and behold.... I checked in at 18.6, even higher then the concerned one in Nov. He told me when I was in there that if it didn't drop, he wanted to drop my script and put me on daily gel. First off, I am concerned about my health and I can appreciate what he's doing, but at the same time, my insurance won't cover the daily gel hence why I went on injections in the first place. Also, I'm HORRIBLE at keeping up with medicine! The day I have to rely on a pill to take every day, is more then likely the day I croak. In theory(I'm not Dr here) he says that gel won't/shouldn't elevate HGB like injections do. Why...?.. doesn't quite make sense for me with a little common sense, because the body is taking in the test no matter what....but hey.... I'm no endo DR like I'm seeing.


Anyone else have this issue? Also, I read being dehydrated can cause a high HGB and which I'm the worst at that and pounding water, Like bad! Anyway..... anyone want to chime in on the matter? Like I say, the last thing I want is a stroke at 31 because of high HGB.

What's your weekly dose? Test levels from labs?

What is your TRT protocol?
You may consider lowering your test dose.

Weekly .5ml script/pharma it was 1ml every two weeks but was getting the roller coaster ride, so I changed it to .5 a wk

Its best if you list doses in mg, but assuming you're in the US, then .5ml is most likely 100mg. That's a reasonable dose,but what are your test levels like at that dose? If you have room to come down then you could reduce the dose a bit. Donating blood is also an easy option. If you're hemoglobin is only rising a few tenths every few months then donating blood about every 4-5 months should be enough to keep it in check. If you donate, start slow and don't go crazy donating too often because that can swing you're blood levels the other way and make you anemic which isn't good either. Donate right before your next blood work so you can monitor the results.

Solid advice from the guys above.
Learn to hydrate better. Take a water bottle with you everywhere you go.
Give blood "occasionally" if needed.
Reduce your dose slightly if possible.

You'll be fine. No need to come off of injections. Your doc can write you a script for a therapeutic draw if a blood drive won't accept you.

interesting how you didn't list the dosage you were on in the OP but i don't think it would benefit you in anyway to switch to the gel i agree new doc time
