Question for my husband
Originally I came to this forum for myself, since I'm the one that is in the gym and have asps rations to one day make it to stage, but as I read through things I find my husband may have use of some trt or hrt (not yet sure what the difference is).
He just went in to have blood work done for his annual physical, and my question is; does the basic annual blood work test all the areas needed to determine what, or even if, any therapy would be helpful to his quality of life?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the boards!
Hormone Replacement Therapy and Testosterone Replacement Therapy. HRT is general hormones, and TRT is specific to Testosterone . In these forums though, they're used to mean the same thing.
I doubt his GP will have done a full blood panel. Likely to have just tested a few things, depending on age. PSA (Prostate) and Cholestrol being the main ones, and thyroid. If he/you suspect a lowT problem, he needs to join the forums and start reading and learning. He also needs to go back to his GP, describe the issues hes having, and request appropriate testing.

Excellent. I hadnt noticed you're US based. My references to GP (Doctor) probably confused you lol.
Id tell him to get his butt on here, and his nose in the TRT section. I had to really lead my doctor, as he was clueless on hormones.
"Im down, I've gained weight, I've no libido, I've Erectile problems, I think its Low Testosterone!"
Id suggest he does something similar if its not as easy as just requesting a blood test.
**EDIT**
Do as Kelkel suggested too.
@Kel - Is that a roadmap or a bicep?!

***not sure why but I couldn't post with a quote***
Unfortunately getting him on here is not possible at the moment. He is a self employed plumber and works more hours than anyone should to take care of his small family. He just dosnt have the energy to comb through all the available info.
Lucky for him I'm willing to do the research and have no problem pushing dr's to listen.
Thx again

just order the labs yourself and have your husband go by your local lab corp with blood draw script and done $150-$175 dollar for the hormone panel for males listed towards the bottom of that thread. Post the numbers here when they email them to you and he is out of the equation. I'm in and out of lab Corp in 15 minutes usually some times 5-10 minutes.

Well I think he's very lucky to have you looking out for him. I think K's advice is spot on, really do. TRT as you can probably imagine is not one size fits all, it really is tailed to some degree.
Spend the time, learn and it will be a gods send....
Good luck!

Thanks again everyone. There is no rush, hormones are not something to be played with without proper respect and knowledge. As I gather information and get dr input I will be posting questions for people's experience and opinions and guidance to help me stay of top of the dr's recommendations.

That can be the issue. Far too many doc's don't know hormones as they receive very little training in them in med school. This leads to either no diagnosis or an improper one. Many times TRT is used as a band aid instead of fixing the causative factor of the patients low T, alleviating the need for it in the first place.

Where in NY are you? I don't have a great doctor but a really good clinic for starting out on trt. They actually give a fvck what's wrong with you and why it happened.

finding a dr is the biggest hurdle- he can easily get overwelmed by the lack of help he can receive and give up trying if he doesnt get the right dr straight off the bat, id follow Bigdills advice and see his dr- sometimes a reccomendation saves years of searching.

I am in the Hudsonvalley and just recently got on TRT. If you get the blood work and you need to see a specialist I can recommend a doctor that will scrip the meds so you don't have to chase a Dr that isn't afraid too. Just PM me and I'll send you the medical group and Dr info.

Upload the labs in this post, just make sure to cover names to protect identity. Go I'm the new member section and respond to new members to get post count up in the mean time. If the initial lab shows signs of needing treatment, set up an appointment with the group I am seeing. They accept almost all insurance and I am fully covered for all labs and treatment.
