    Test results question(s)

    Hi guys.

I had a few tests taken by my doc, and I was hoping to get an opinion from someone here.

Most doctors at my practice only test total testosterone and free T, so I was only able to press for a few additional tests, but did not get nearly as many as I should have.

    Total testosterone 636 Range 348-1197
    Free testosterone 8.4 Range 8.7-25.1
    LH 4.1 Range 1.7-8.6
    FSH 2.4 Range 1.5-12.4
    Estadiol 26.3 Range 7.6-42.6
    SHBG 67.8 Range 16.5-55.9

Obviously my SHBG is way too high. My doc says there is no way to lower it (That he knows of) and that my options are clomid or testosterone injections. Is there anything I can do to lower my SHBG and try and free up my direct testosterone?

If you manage to lower the SHBG your free test will raise.

High SHBG might be due to hormonal imbalance (cycling steroids for example) or also can be linked to insulin resistance, metabolic disease and ultimately diabetes.

Supplementing zinc and time off steroids will help (if this is the reason), also possible for the reason to be from prescription drugs (antidepressives, sedatives, weed, etc) to raise SHBG. Alcohol will raise it too.

If its insulin resistance and beggining of metabolic problems you need further medical evaluation.

IMO starting TRT cause of high SHBG seems quite far fetched.

Optimize your Vit D level (use blood work) and also eat more protein. If your diet is low in protein and high in carbohydrates your shbg will rise.

what dosage of vitamin D is good to start with? Currently, I am taking 10,000 IU daily.
Protein is dialed in so I'm good there.

I'd probably start with 5K then check it in a month and titrate if necessary.
