Been gone awhile. High b.p. and a new doctor.

Just got home from donating blood. It had been awhile since I'd donated and i was feeling kinda "off" for the last month. Blood pressure has been elevated, even though I've been on lisinopril for afew months (10mg daily until 2weeks ago, bumped to 20mg). Bp was averaging 138/90.

Donated today, my HCT was at 54. It's no wonder i was having problems.


After low t sold out, i dropped their program. Continued self treating for about 9 months until i ran out (poor planning on my part).

Found a pcp that promoted hormone replacement, got initial blood work done. I was off test at that point but tested around 300. They were apparently confused, because they called and said everything looked good :rolleyes:
After explaining to them they needed to rx test they finally did.

Fast forward 6 months, they want to lower my dose by half :?:

They want me to come in and do blood work again (just had some done last month) so they'll either continue my treatment or ill be finding a new pcp.

IJust wonder what he's prescribing to everybody else?

Anyways, no real questions or anything. I've just been gone from the forum awhile and felt like checking in.

Early July my labs came back as
Total t 483 (250-1100)
Free t 127 (35-155)
Hct 49.8%

Knowing i had blood work coming, i cut my dose down to 50mg 2x/wk

I normally take 65mg 2x a week, but i could tell from my initial visits with this doctor that he doesn't like higher test levels. My previous blood work from low t (which iprovided to him) showed me in the 800s which kinda freaked my doctor out).

This doc is a quack, but he's filling my scripts. He hasn't tested e2 yet, and didn't understand when iasked him to continue my script for anastrozole (although he did write it) .


Also concerning blood pressure (a good story on its own)

I was averaging 150/100 which prompted me to visit the doc. He wrote for lisinopril 10mg a day. This brought me down to around 145/95.

Went in for follow up, got his PA since he was gone that day. At first she wanted to combo a diuretic, which i refused. I work in the heat and have ahard enough time staying hydrated.
She countered by suggesting to raise my lisinopril, which i agreed was the proper course of action. She started typing the new script in, so iasked her what the new dose would be.

She replied 40mg daily. To which, i naturally refused. What doctor quadruples amedication instead of titrating up?

She agreed to 20mg for now, ill self monitor and well adjust if necessary.

I'm currently getting 135/85 consistently, ifeel like well provably bump to 30mg and ill be good enough.

I feel like some of these doctors get their license from a cracker jack box

Wow, your doctor stinks. Hawk realize that thicker blood (more viscous) will cause blood pressure to rise. Yours is well within range but that being said, it could be a bit high "for you" and contributing to the BP issue. Food for thought, maybe give some blood and see how you feel.

I donated the same day i made this post. When i started trt ihad been donating regularly, as soon as ibecame eligible to give again. For whatever reason, i put donating on the back burner.

After donating, my blood pressure did indeed drop about 5 points on both measures. It's still higher then it should be, but 135/85 is better then 150/100 any day of the week.

I decided to go in and donate because i was feeling the high hct (if that makes sense). Regular headaches, occasional nose bleeds, lethargy, etc etc. I feel alot better now, though I'm sure my hct is still a bit high. Idefinitely won't be putting off the donations from now on

Work on getting that BP down my man. You will feel better, be healthier and live longer. Shoot for 120/70
