Is this subQ or shallow IM?

Couldn't stand the 3 foot long 21g needles my doc recommended so I got a bag of 29g 5/8" insulin needles and they've been working much better for me. I'm injecting at 90° straight into my upper quads burying the needle completely with additional slight pressure to go a bit deeper. My quads are pretty lean. Not sure if it even matters, the only reason I'm asking is because sometimes I give my legs a rest and inject into my dealts and I'm pretty certain the needle is in muscle there and I've read that subQ vs IM injections will absorb at different rates so I want to stick to the same program and avoid unnecessary spikes or what not.

I use 1/2 inch 28G needles and I'm pretty certain it is shallow muscle, but then again, it doesn't matter whether it's IM or SC. I have yet to see any conclusive data that shows it matters either way. I've been doing this for about 6 years with very stable T levels. I pity the poor fools that stick with the traditional harpoons that most docs set them up with. They just don't know there's a better way.

Oh, regarding rotating to delts. I tried that for a while and see no reason for it. I now just alternate left and right upper outer quads. I sincerely doubt a 29G or 28G needle will have any affect on muscle tissue.

Also, I used to apply additional pressure as you described, but don't anymore. I believe that it can cause minor damage to the skin, so I stopped. I just use enough pressure to move the plunger down.

What Y55g said. IM or SQ doesn't matter. Even if it's a little of both, it all works. As long as you're not lumping up your good to go.
