    Got approved for TRT

    Bad news though, insurance won't cover anything so if I do it legit it will cost 500.00 a month!

    Considering Defy Medical.

    Defy is top notch. If your local doc will write you though you can look into places like Costco Pharmacy to pick up your test. I've seen guys on here price it at around $40 or so.

    I just moved to a new area. I'm shopping around for a PCP/GP right now. Options are limited here. For example, it's a three hour round trip to Walmart.

    Has anyone here had success with Defy Medical and then convincing their PCP to take over the protocol? Or.... the VA.

    Test shouldnt run much more than $100 a bottle in the states. Where are you getting $500 a month?

    I realize that finding a local doc to prescribe TRT is difficult. I live in a very rural area too and it took me several years to develop the relationships. I went to a very expensive (and very good!) TRT specialist for the first few years and managed to get my doc to take over medication management after she saw how good I was doing on the program. I was up front with her from the start and she monitored my progress for those first few years.

    In terms of cost-comparison, I didn't keep accurate records back in the TRT specialist days, but your $6,000 per year seems a bit much. I estimating I paid about half that form the specialist (who did not take my insurance).

    Regarding my current program, which is prescribed by my PCP and scrips filled at local pharmacy:
    HCG = $131.79 for 10,000 IU = ~10 week supply = $685/year
    T = $63.36 for 10 mL of 200 mg/mL = 40 doses @ 0.25 mL = 120 day supply = 3 vials/year = $193/year

    [/B][/B]Ancillaries - I get on my own through other sources
    • Anastrozole = 30 (1 mg) tabs for $33. Assuming 0.5mg/week = 16.5 week supply = $104 = $104.00 $25 (shipping) = $128/year
    • 30G insulin syringe = 121/year @ $0.14 each = $17/year
    • 28G insulin syringe = 121/year @ $0.14 each = $17/year

    TOTAL COST PER MONTH = ~$87
