Test strength mixup at pharmacy
Has anyone ever gotten the wrong strength of testosterone when filling a script at the pharmacy? I am prescribed a 10ml bottle of 100mg/ml every two months. My prescription was transferred from one pharmacy to another with one refill remaining, and when I filled it, I got an early Christmas present of a 200mg/ml bottle.
Usually if I accidentally leave a store with something that the cashier missed, I will bring it back and pay for it, or return it. I just couldn’t do that this time. Besides, I think most big chain pharmacies have policies that forbid returning medicine. At least Wal-Mart does because I was a pharmacy tech there in college. If it was the store’s fault as in a miss-fill or something like that, whatever was taken back was thrown away and the cost eaten. But other than that, nothing was taken back once it left the store - not even if the seal on a bottle wasn’t broken. People would come back and want the same color tablet that they were used to, or a certain brand generic, etc. However, if it left the store, It was always a no. More than a few people got really upset at us. I couldn’t let that bottle go in the trash.
The prescription wasn’t misprinted because I received my 100mg/ml bottles at the other pharmacy before it was transferred. It also wasn’t an accidental miss-fill because I checked the online records and they say 200mg/ml. I think the problem (or lucky surprise) happened because for transfers the pharmacists usually call and verbally give the prescription to another pharmacist, or even leave it on an answering machine. At least that’s how it was done when I was a pharm tech. There was probably a miscommunication on the phone. Damn, I wish it would have been my full script with refills.
Shit, sorry guys. I’m tired, can’t sleep, and didn’t mean for this post to be a novel.
