    Lab results range question

If a total testosterone lab comes back at 500.0ng/dl with a range of 15.0-648.0 ng/dl is that any different than a lab that comes back at 500.0 ng/dl with a range of 300-1100 ng/dl? In this example it would appear that a result of 100 ng/dl would be normal for one lab, but super low for another???? So 500 would be close to high for one lab but below halfway for the other????????

That's a damn good question. It would seem ng / dl measurement should be the same, right?

My kinda but probably not too cynical guess is that they are the same, the first scale is just one that the insurance companies have concocted to avoid paying for trt.

I wish they all would go back to 348-1100 ng/dL.
There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...

Exactly. We all know the reason they lowered it is to keep more people off of TRT....

My Doc didn't help much. Her response "500 when range is 100-600 means it is in the upper end of nml whereas 500 when range is 300-1000 is in the lower end of nml." So, I guess 500 is 500 no matter the range. The range fudging must be for what people are saying, to make 100 normal and prevent HRT for men. The woosssafication of men continues!
