I called like three compounding pharms and most the names they give me are females, so should I lean more towards a male doctor or does it really matter?

As long as they understand hormones and will work with you, and not treat you like a number, it doesn't matter.

No, I don't. But if they are A4M Certified that's the exact qualification your looking for. You may try posting a thread in the forum asking if anyone is receiving good treatment from a Pittsburgh area doc...

Dr. Eugene Shippen is in PA. No clue how close but he is one of the godfathers of TRT. Crisler is in Michigan. Your surrounded.

Newbie here. Looked through the search engine and saw many names in my area. I just wanted to see if anyone has experience with a TRT Doc in the SoCal area (Burbank, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Encino areas)
kelkel, you are a wealth of info and an advocate of Dr. Crisler's. What is *your* exact TRT protocol these days?

My protocol is 60mg Test every 3.5 days both SQ and IM. HCG 250 IU's M-W-F. NO AI needed. Various supplements as well.
When it comes to docs in your area, make a thread in the main HRT forum and you will get responses.

Welcome to the forum clarkster! Read all the stickies please!

Welcome Kawika. Glad it helped. BTW, check out the LowTestosterone.com link above this forum. It may be what you are looking for. The owner of this site put it together and is opening clinics nationwide. Treatment is cost effective with methodologies based on the knowledge of the top docs in the industry with feedback from this forum as well! In other words, they know exactly what you need.

    Again, welcome.

Found a doc who is going to be using Test, HCG and an AI. I never knew how expensive it could be. My doc is asking for $600 every 6 weeks for treatment. Thinking about doing this until I hear from LowTestosterone.com, which will hopefully be soon. How can they be offering EVERYTHING for $199 per month?! There is one 2 hours away from me, I will gladly make the trip up there.

    Going through the process myself

I finally made the trip to my general dr and as a 47 year old he though me T score of 284 was in the normal range, but when I showed him a study of end the endo journals named "Testosterone Therapy in Men with Androgen Deficiency Syndromes: An Endocrine Society Clinical Practice Guideline" showing that I fell outside of the standard deviation for a 64 year old, then he referred me to a endo dr. but that is over 1 1/2 months away. I found a TRT in Milwaukee next week and had all my labwork done (about $700 worth).

well i just just started with a program that is out of state. My insurance doesnt cover the test cyp which is odd since i always thought it was pretty good insurance.

Anyways, the program sent me an order for blood work and I took it to a local lab. Once the lab faxed the results, they set me up with test cyp 200 mgs a week, HCG twice a week and anastrazole for about a 10 week cycle. Prices were great. Initial consult was about $400 which was refundable if i didnt qualify. I also chose sermorelen w ghrp2 w an epi pen. They also supply the syringes and needles and mixing instructions and support.

Im two weeks in and feeling great! I cant complain one bit.

Is 200mgs a week the standard? or do some docs they prescribe more if the followup blood work says youre still low?

My endo prescribed 200 a week for my trt. Some will say that is on the high side which it is but I felt great on the dosage. Congrats on feeling better but just know you'll still have some ups and downs to deal with as your body adjusts to the extra test.

Because it's not all about profit. Naturally it's important but with opening multiple clinics you can negotiate better prices than the individual doc and pass it on to your clients.

    Hello Mopar.

Well, it sounds like you landed with a clinic. Clinic's make money by dishing out more substances for you to buy and your contact there more than likely works off a percentage as well. Not always the best way to go. Remember, TRT is NOT a cycle. It's normally for a lifetime.

My question to you is simple. What was the causative factor for your low T? Or did they just say your T is low and this will fix your problems. In otherword, put a bandaid on the problem? I'd love to see you paste your original post here in the HRT Forum itself along with your blood work with ranges (pre trt) so we can analyze it for you.

When it comes to dosage, 200 seems to be a standard issuance by clinics. In reality it is the high end of TRT dosages and may put you into a supraphysiologic range. It is always best to start low (say 100mg per week) and titrate up based on BW, not start high and then hope to mitigate sides along the way. It's quite possible on a more moderate dosage and protocol you could get by without an AI if testing bears this out.

More is not better in TRT. It all needs to be based on BW. Remember, the more T injected at one time = a greater spike in E2. Therefore the opposite is true as well, less injected = less of a spike in E. Once again, less is more in TRT.

What dosage did they prescribe for Anastrazole and HCG out of curiosity? Also, it may be a good time to check our lowtestosterone.com for more responsible treatment.

Just left the docs office with success. Test c hcg clomped and another anti estrogen blocker. The key is to find a doc in an anti aging clinic with a4m certification. I inject twice a week hcg twice a week

First, check www.lowtestosterone.com and see if any are open in your area or you can arrange to get to one. They will help you with travel and we know you'll be treated exactly how you should be with modern principals. If that is not convenient for you take a look at this link. a4m. com/directory. html (just close the gaps)

The a4m search is how I found my therapy doc. I lucked out while researching and one of the offices had a web page so I checked it out and she had posted a success story for TRT and mentioned the protocol used. I knew from there that this particular doc is up to date with modern protocols as mentioned from kel numerous times on the board. So KEL...Thank you again!!! Your info has impacted my life greatly. My package is on UPS truck for delivery this morning.

Great thread, lots of info. I have been researching for a doc around Atlanta, but there is insufficient info to base a sound decision on. The info in this thread will help I hope. I have not had BW or ever cycled before, however, I have always worked out a lot and have started to really flag in energy, strength, and muscle.

Nope. For now, sticking with my endo. All is going good. It's just a shame I have to get sensitive e2 on my own dollar. I did find one guy, but he utilizes pellets, so I passed.

Some guys do well on pellets. Personally I would not consider it, unless I was 70 or so...

I think I know who you are talking about. If so, he doesn't do pellets anymore - though his website still says he does. Was this an Anti Aging Clinic?

^^^yes it was. He's in fresno ca. There's also the fact that he charges $125/mo just to be your doc-nothing else. So, if I need to make a change, I will probably check out lowt.com. But, with my level in the 800s and e2 in the high 20's, I will stay put for now. My gel is $30 mo + a few $$ to keep the boys healthy + e2 testing a couple times per year. That price is hard to beat.

Ps...if you are near my area and you know or find a good doc/clinic, could you let me know via pm? Thx.

Dont know if i should post here or not but does anyone have any recommendations on a good clinic/doctor in Australia that specializes in HRT? I live in the NT ( fairly remote place ) so my options are extremely limited locally for doctors but i am prepared to fly interstate if required to seek help and guidance with my condition as my current GP has very little knowledge and has never dealt with HRT before and as such is reluctant to look into it as he believes it causes cancer and long term will do more harm than good..

Know this is probably a dumb question, but is there a decoding ring that comes with all these chemical abbreviations? I don't know what most of these two to three digit references are ???

    Here's what's abbreviated.

    • SHBG = Sex hormone-binding globulin
    • DHT = Dihydrotestosterone
    • LH = Luteinizing hormone
    • FSH = Follicle-stimulating hormone
    • CBC = Complete Blood Count
    • PSA = Prostate-Specific Antigen
    • IGF-1, IGFBP-3 = Insulin -like growth factor 1, Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3

    Good info

There is a lot of good info on this thread.

I just started HRT. My T was so low, had to return to the clinic early the next morning for more lab work, to insure my body could produce T. Next morning, it was in the 200 range, so no MRI was necessary. Still very low but higher than previous lab.

I am getting therapy every 2 weeks because it is such a long drive to the clinic. (4 hrs round trip)
I noticed Lowtestosterone.com advertises on this site. I emailed them, and will make a phone call today. I am in the Central Texas area. I need to get on a steady HRT program without all the driving, get a little sore after the shot, and the drive makes it worse, trying to sit on one cheek while driving. Plus the cost of gas.

I have suffered greatly at the hands of past Doctors, that would not listen to me when I have asked to get my hormones checked out. They just like handing out pills for depression, I never could take that stuff.

Hi Kel. Would you be willing to send me contact info on your doc? I am in the northern Delaware area. I see an endo for hashimotos disease. I've been on the treatment for a while but still don't feel like I think I should (low libido etc.). I would like to have my hormone levels looked at by a doc that really knows what they are doing. Thanks for your help with this.
