LabCorp Lab Test, difference between Estrdiol and Total Estrogens??

    Hi guys,
I've had two Lab test done by Lab Corp recently. Somehow, the first one included Estradiol testing and the second one included Estrogens, Total. The scales on the right side are different and I was wondering how I should interpret them, and what the differences are?

    1st test:
    Estradiol 217 pg/ml 7.6 - 42.6
    Roche ECLIA methodolgy

    2nd test:
    Estrogens, Total 66 pg/ml Adult Male: 40 - 115

Are these two tests reading basically the same thing?

    Thanks!!

Well, I went looking some more and found this from an old thread. This partially answers my question I believe:

    "Estrogen is total circulating levels.

The three subtypes are, estrone, estradiol, estriol. Estrodoil (E2) is often tested which is the most potent estrogen subtype causing the most amount of gyno and tisse proliferation."

Also, the bulk of estrogen in males is E2.

I had the same issue with quest.
    Estradiol was 20 range< or =39
estrogens total serum 131 range 130 or less as there are many estrogen test this may very well be for a female as the test name doesn't specify.

Will run blood again in a few months, we need to be sure we are very specific about what tests we want no need paying for the female estrogen tests.

I should have put in the dates or been more specific. There is almost two months between the two tests. I was hoping that it had come down a lot since the 217 reading for Estradiol. At least the 2nd test is within range, and I noticed that all the ranges they gave on the form (there were multiple ranges listed) were for Males.
Thanks for your info! Next time I will specify EXACTLY what tests I want..

what did you do to bring this down ? was the test accurate ?

I got similiar numbers back, yet i dont think I have any symptoms. my total serum estrogran came back >4000. I also took bloods 9 hours after a shot. so i am hoping that corrupted the results.
