    Stats: 6'2" 340lbs age 40

Been dealing with brain fog, very tired mid day, moodiness, lack of interest in the wife, wanting to be by myself, alcoholism and generally just falling apart since I hit the ripe old age of 40. It seems that once the ole four O hit it has been nothing but down hill, blown knee, hips killing me, lower back pain and aches and pains constantly. The wife and I had IVF to concieve our first child that i'm happy to say my boy is 9 months old next Tuesday. :-). Bottom line, I feel like crap and have a kid to try and keep up with now! Decided it was time to do something about it! I have never had blood work done and generally have never went to doctors unless I felt like i was about to die. One of my co-workers had went to lunch a few weeks ago and shared that he had just started TRT by telling me a funny story of his first home injection. Hence my start on this journey.

I dont have my blood work handy but I do remember my T was at 214. I am also low on vitamin D, magnesium, folate, B6 and pregnenolone along with high blood pressure and high tryglycerides. (I will share the actual blood work if you all want to know)

Doctor prescribed 3cc (or 3mg or 30mg..3 something or another) of test C 2 times per week, pregnenolone cream, Armour Thyroid, and blood pressure pills (at my request, been dealing with high BP since my 20's but quit taking them cause im an idiot). Along with B, D, Omega 3, Folic acid, and Magnesium supplements.

Now onto where im at. First injection Thursday afternoon (Saturday today). Friday was my first full cocktail of these and supplements. All I can say is energy out the wazoo! Mood dramatically improved, a sense of well being, colors are brighter, music sounds better, feel like going to the gym again, happy!, patient, hard to descibe but I can actually "feel my muscles working"..like i notice them again, im smiling again, im excited, looking into the future and just not right now, alcohol doesnt seem needed, I FEEL JUST FLAT OUT GOOD! I would imagine most of it is psycholgical but dang it,something is happening and it isnt only in my head! Maybe it is the thyroid pills, the B vitamins, the Test, heck what ever! If this is just the beginning, I can not wait for the real stuff to happen! I feel alive again, seriously.

(thanks for letting me rant and ramble, just typing my thoughts without really thinking about)

Im glad to hear youre happy and on the right path.

Reducing your body fat would be the next priority. I would head over to the Nutrition section and dial in a solid diet that will assist you in losing some unwanted fat. The pros in there can help you along the way.

Once again, good for you. Im glad you were able to discover there's an alternative to suffering from Andropause .

Mickey, thanks for the response. I used to workout consistantly and was asked time and time again if i played college or pro ball thru out the years. Am I fat? Oh heck yeah, I am not a 340lb slob like the numbers suggest....I dont think so. lol. Diet is definately my fist prioity, no doubt. I think my journey into TRT was for the help with energy boost to get motivated to diet and get my arse back into the gym. Realistically at this very moment in time, if it happens to help with my joint pain (not sure if it will) to gain the motivation I am all about it. :-) The journey has just started and I plan on making the most of it.

Blus why don't you post up your pre-trt blood work so we can take a look and get a handle on things. Second opinions, and thirds, fourths and fifths here are a good thing. Be sure to include ranges.

Again, glad your here. Great advice from Mick as always.

As soon as you can post your blood work complete with ranges.

By day tell us your protocol and what you are taking in dosage amounts.

Tell us about your Doc; is he trained in hormone replacement in men.

    Prescribed HCG for testicular health.

We'll jump in when you do this...and welcome to the forum!

Doctor does seem to be well versed in TRT treatment/weight loss, that is his clinics primary practice.

    Welcome!

Can you edit and put in the ranges for each lab value in your last post?

    You did good, thanks.

Great to feel better, isn't it? Careful that you don't over do it in the gym or elsewhere...some have hurt themselves from an increased strength from test.

    Pregnenolone <5 13-208
Start supplementing wit Pregnenolone 100 mg daily for the first two weeks and then cut back to 50 mg daily thereafter. This is alarming low and there's a reason for that. You're not converting DHEA to Pregnenolone very well.

    DHEA-S 213 45-345
Not bad but better at the top of the reference range. See the Sticky on HCG there's a good section I put in there on DHEA supplementation. You do better adding in 25 mg of DHEA twice daily as well.

    IGF-I 171 52-328
    Fine.

    Z-score 0.4 -2.0-+2.0
    Dihydrotestosterone 9 16-79
This is too low and probably because of your suppressed levels of Testosterone. This must come up...

    TSH 1.94 0.35-4.94
    FreeT3 2.96 1.71-3.71
    Free T4 1.02 0.70-1.48
Thyroid looks fine with what's presented here but I'd like to see more labs just in case.

    total Test 214.6 196-782
    Test, Free 5.87 5.2-18.0
    Test bioavailable 131 119-470
    Test % free 2.7 1.5-3.1
With the exception of % Free all other values are suppressed as you know. I don't see LH/FSH/Prolactin labs here and they are needed to understand why your serum Testosterone levels are where they are.

    SHBG 17 12-59
    Good.

    Estradiol 20 11-44
Good, BUT is this a sensitive assay?

    Total PSA 0.64 0.00-4.00
    Free PSA 0.14
    % Free PSA 21.88
    Good.

    Dosages:
    30mg Armour Thyroid daily
    .4ml Pregenolone creme daily
Your not absorbing very well and that's why your lab for this is so low. Try purchasing the micronized pill for of Pregnenolone at the doses recommended above.
    .3ml Test C 2x week
If my math is correct this is about 60 mg of Test Cyp per week and is a very low dose. You may want to talk to your Doc about upping this to 60 mg twice a week to get your serum levels up.
various supplements...B complex, D, folic acid, magnesium, Omega 3 ect..

Doctor does seem to be well versed in TRT treatment/weight loss, that is his clinics primary practice.

    Anything else???
If he's well versed in TRT what are his opinions of your current blood work presented here?

I am on 60mg twice a week of Test C, so it sounds like he is right on the money. (200mg/ml)

Pregneolone, 100mg per day. So it sounds like he is right there as well.

I will look into the DHEA thing.

You have me very curious on the thyroid thing. I believe that is causing my sleeping problems. What other things from my BW do you need to investigate the reason he has me on Armour Thyroid?

    "
