    had my urology appt today

I went for my urology appt today, and I thought it was going to be terrible, but it was a pretty successful(not perfect) trip. My dad and I arrived, and the woman there saw my big stack of articles and blood work and made a remark to her staff how i had a lot of records..then 10 minutes later, I go in to be seated, and the woan comes in saying the dr I was scheduled for is running late, and I can see a diff dr if I want...I said no, i want this one. So, anyway at this point I was very anxious lOL

So, he comes in, says hi, asks me what's up...and I tell him about my history of a small 2mm adenoma in the pituitary, i show him my 277 testosterone from aged 19, I tell him about my symptoms, and how I'm trying to find the root cause and not try to get free steroids .(i feel this is rpetty important bc im pretty muscular).

So, right when i was talking about the 277 blood test, i said ''it's within normal range , but not normal '' I even tried to tell him how the range goes up to 100 year olds and 277 is 100 points less than the 5th percentile for 100 year olds with diabetis lol.

He said 277 wasnt necessarily low, then he walked out to view my ultrasound disc i brought him. He came back said my ultrasound looked fine, felt my tesdticles, said they felt fine. He said they write varicoceles alot on the ultrasounds even if there are none.

I then showed him my dad's results and he said my dad needs trt...and he said he prescribes hcg , does injections, pellets etc. He said my dad needs it more than me, which annoyed me. He said it's because my dad's fsh is 24.

ANYWAY, HERE IS WHERE THE GOOD PART COMES. He seemed down to order any test I wanted. He ordered total t, free t, estradiol(not sensitive), prolactin, dhea, cortisol, lh. I didn't ask for more..I was jsut happy he ordered those.
BUT He ordered a brain mri with/without contrast.
He wants to see me back in 2 weeks..but i have an endo appt in 2, so i scheduled for 3.

Overall, a good visit....he was not as knowledgable on trt as I'd like, and even though he said my dad was eligible he steered him away from it.

He told me to take the testosterone blood test 1-2 hours after i wake up, so il ldo around 2.

if there is a pit tumor will test therapy make it grow?

Thought SOMEONE would be interested in my visit but i guess not.

anyway, i've been worried about whether my insurance(medicaid horizon nj health) wil lauthorize my mri or if they will make me get a ct first(which i wont do)
    i really want this mri.

There are lots of people that read and follow your threads here. It is just slow this weekend for some reason... less activity here for sure. Be patient, I am sure people will chime in. On a positive note, it is an improvement over your previous experience. (Still frustrating, though.)

thanks that makes me feel better. Yeah, he ordered what i needed...even though he doesnt seem too aware of things....but he isnt totally clueless..does prescribe hcg , pellets etc....i just doubt he does updated protocols and would get me to high normal.

im just hoping he told my insurance i had a previous brain mri and they authorize it....headaches are prolly my worst symptom
m getting acne breakouts..have 3 cysts on my neck hope it;s not anything to be concerned with.

think ill move my endo appt from may 3, to later since i am getting blood work from this urologist idk.

I would say anything to do with a tumor needs to be addressed with a medical expert who is very familiar with you and your situation. It's not fair for anyone here to tell you, just go on TRT and you'll be fine the tumor won't grow. We can't make that claim.

What was your goal with the visit though?

i wanted blood testing and the mri pretty much...so i got that. Dr's were never concerned with this tumor and just called it an incidental finding. ive had it since 2009, although my most recent mris showed no tumors..but it's been 2 years since ive had one.
I nly showed him the positive one though so he'd order me an mri...these drs can sometimes refuse tests. He wrote on the scrip diagnosis microadenoma, so i hope the insurance authorizes it.
Idk whether to trust him on the varicocele...it seems im the only one who can feel it.....
i'mm ore worried aboujt the pimples though

I also dont think im going to go first thing in the morning. ill prob wake up, and do the blood test 3 hours from waking up. Im glad labcorp's ref range starts at 348.

Ask labcore if they can email you the results of your test. Or if they have an app like quest labs has that gives you your results. Another post on here said labcore won't give u your results and they'll only send them to the dr. But see if they will and Ask why they won't if they say they won't.

they have some site that allows you to get the results but it;'s confusing. you need a microsoft health account..idk how to set it up. I dont mind getting them from the urologist's though..i just wish i were prepared. If it came back at like 450 or so i'd be prepared to argue that that is a crap level.

For being 19 that is way to low. If your pretty muscular, did you do roids before? If your low how can you get muscular!

im 23 now...but ive been lifting since i was 15 and one month. I'm not gigantic but people can tell i lift. I'm 6'2 203.
When I was 19-21 I got my testosterone checked a bunch of times. At 19, it was 27, at late 20-21, i was 535..and then a little after that I was 470(which is what the majority of my tests were) Free test I dont know all the totals but it was anywhere from 73-91 on the scale that goes up to 155.

    no roids.

so does anyone know if i should fast for my blood test? I quitt taking my vitamin d for about a week so i get a more accurate reading.

I think this can be false, I had a test of low 200's and my IGF1 was 432 and I was doing well in the gym deadlift 495, squat 435 and bench over 320. maybe it was the high IGF because it sure as hell was not the test lol.

I use private labs all the time and last time I had my results in 2 days or less. They provide it via email notification and can be viewed with PDF.

Bingo! You can still be strong with lowT. You just wont get the same results body wise as someone running high or normal. The recovery time was terrible with low T too

went today to get my blood drawn. had it drawn about 2.5 hours ago..arm is still sore lol. Didnt hurt much giving blood, although i got two scripts filled from two diff drs so needed to give an extra tube.
    Im terrified of my cholesteral.

btw in reference to low t and being strong/muscular. I have a hard time not only being muscular, but also with strength..I know t helps muscles but does it have a profound impact on strength? I'm not weak, but the past few years ive made no progress...

do you guys think my test was accurate since it was done around 3.5 hours after waking up? The urologist said 1-2 hours after waking i believe? If my score comes back low, can iconfidently conclude it is accurate? I did fast over 12 hours.

It will be fine or close enough. You might have to do a 2nd test soon to get a good solid baseline.

ok thanks. I honestly felt i would eff myself over by doing it RIGHT when i wake up. I honestly feel this is a more accurate representation of how i feel throughtout the day. ....but I wanted to be sure that what I was doing was still accurate.
If he asks, i'll prob tell him i woke up 10-11, just so he doesnt give me shit.

He only ordered lh, and not fsh for some reason lol. The estrogen test is not sensitive, but from my understanding, the estradiol test always overestimates males, so whatever my result is will prob be lower on the sensitive..so i think it will work for now. I know that my estrogen is not low so that isnt a concern..getting too high of a reading. I am an estrogenic male hhaha

I don't think i'd let this guy do trt with me though....he has said some fishy things like
1-everyone has low vitamin d levels and he has never seen a normal d level
2-hcg is not an everyday thing(not sure what he meant by this)...and it doesnt work in people over 40(we were talking about it for my dad)..he said he'd prescribe it to guys my age though.
3- i can tell he doesnt do weekly injections....i can just tell by the way he talks.

problem is, im a very nice guy, and although im very intelligent and more knowledgeable on this stuff than the drs, i don't want to insult them or make them feel bad. If he does agree to put me on trt, and reccomendeds a shitty protocol I dont know how to tell him. He also didnt appreciate my intelligence...when i was telling him or trying to tell him atleast how the normal ranges are calculated, he was like''yes i know how they are calculated'', trying to cut me off.
