Dextrose and Glucose

Hi All

When using Insulin (humalog IM) I see the most recommended form of sugar to use is Dextrose. My understanding of Dextrose is that it converts into Glucose very quickly and that’s why it’s best to use. At my local pharmacy I can buy glucose powder is this not better for me to use? If so would the quantity still be the same?

Dextrose is pure glucose, a simple sugar which is very beneficial when used PWO. Quantaties are the same.

What's the Glucose powder come concentrated as? I would assume it's less dense then Dextrose.

It comes different ways. They also have it in a gel form and tablets.

Not excatly sure Jay, but I'll find it for ya. However I do know that the difference isn't significant, that's why the quantaties are the same. I did have a chart on this somewhere, no idea where it is though. I'll try and find.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will check tonight on the box if it has the concentration on it. Also with Insulin I have found that one needs to adjust the glucose / dextrose to your body's requirement so the quantity I should be able to figure out as I go along. I have used Insulin before but that was before I found out about this site and sh!t I was really abusing the stuff and using it wrong. I am still nervous to use it but I am going strictly on Red Barons work so it will be a good experience.

Yea I knew that they all came in different concentrations Gixxer, thanks buddy. I wanted to know exactly what his was. The tabs that I keep on hand are only 4g per tab. You'd have to take a whole dam lot of those to get 100g of Carbs, lol..
