Humalog is the fastest acting insulin, others are designed to stay active for hours on end, which is something you want to avoid.
ALso shooting IM rather than Sub-q will help it release and act faster.
In regards to legality, you gotta check for yourself. I got no idea where you live man. Different laws in different places. Humalog is legal for me.
From what i read, they both are short term insulin's being 4 or so hours active... Im in Baltimore Md USA so i'll have to check outwise ill get it from one of my sources... I was jsut curious about the facts with um cause the post was from 2003 that i was reading... Called "The book on insulin"
Humulin R is avialable OTC in the USA. It is known as a "fast acting" insulin but it is unsuitable for BB purposes really as it still remains active for too long (much longer than 4 hours BTW).
There are super fast acting insulins available but are not OTC, these are the ones that you want, Humalog or Novorapid, both active for approx 4 hours if shot IM.
The longer an insulin is active the more chance you have of hypo, I would not want to be worried 8 hours a day, While active you absolutely must not sleep and you must watch BG levels and eat enough carbs, much easier to do with the super fasr slins.
Trust me ive read for the past 5 hours on insulin i know of alot of the bad things...icluding DEATH!! lol
Yeah i geuss ill talk to my source.. It should still be cheap i geuss...
(PS the sticky said it lasted like 4 hours)
